Peco Code 70 Delays and CV Turnouts Today-What Have I Gotten Myself Into

The delays for Peco Code 70 and the Peco decision that the first turnout is a #6 have caused me to try and experiment with the somewhat long in tooth Central Valley turnout kits.  I received left and right #5 kits in the mail yesterday and have just finished 15 or more web pages preserved from 2007 on Joe F's experience with the CV turnout and modifications.

Continued a bit with the scenery on my 009 layout

Hello,

during the last few days I continued with the work on my narrrow gauge layout. I applied some static gras, and planted some seamoss trees. I also poured in the water in the little creek. I used my method of applying window color cristall clear contour paint. Usually these works quite well, but these time I think I have applied the layers to thick. Now the water looks a bit milky.

early tofc brake wheels

I am starting to kit-bash Tichy flats into early circus loading tofc. Most pictures of models have a brake wheel sticking up about 4 feet in the way of the truck driving across the ramps. I am having a hard time finding pictures of a converted flat or box car that had the brake wheel relocated somewhere. Also on some newer  89 foot cars there is a post on the side, near one end, that has the chain connected to it but no wheel. Is that some sort of lever that actuates the parking brake linkage?

3D printing software Zbrush

I have decided to jump into the 3D printing world. I have purchased a printer and will be using Zbrush CAD software. I am wondering if anyone here also uses Zbrush software and what you might have created.

Thanks,

Gary

TCS - Not responding to email?

I am posting here because I can't get a response from TCS via email.   Perhaps shaming them on MRH will prompt a response.  I purchased a WiThrottle in October 2019 at the NMRA-MER convention in King of Prussia, PA.   I knew then the throttle didn't exist as a saleable product at the time and would be shipper later in the year.

Operations on a multi deck layout

Hello all,

I'm still a ways away from the start of my layout. I'm currently working on the space it is going in. The layout will be going in a 16ft x 40ft section in my old shop that is about 25ft away from the side of our home. My intention has been to build a single deck layout, but now I'm considering a double deck so that I can use a small section of that space to use as a staging room and to have a ctc dispatching desk.

How to properly build a Helix for HO

Find it interesting to watch how other people do things,  I would not do it this way but as you say it is his model railroad.

Hope this works as a training aid for others on the Don'ts and Do Nots

Simple question

One thing I don't remember being discussed, but is not very important. Certainly not to me.
The DCS50 and many other command stations all do a simple loco number change. You put the loco on the programming track; in "PAGE" or "dir" mode and you click "LOCO", and again or such until you get Ad4/usually. You then enter your 4 digit loco number/usually. You then click "LOCO" again. And you are basically done.

End of train warning - red flag

Hello everyone,

I want to add a red flag to a freight car when switching or sending a local out for a job. I've seen red flags on the end and I would like to have something like that in HO scale. Any idea on the best way to make one of them and how to get it to stay in place? Wishful thinking?

Thanks to all who reply!

Neal
