Howell Avenue Bridge

Just thought I'd share an Idea I came up with while building an overpass over the tracks. Just about everyone has at least one of these overpasses spanning the tracks that ends at the edge of the layout. I had previsouly decided not to do one of these again after one was taken out accidently by a visitor on my previous layout. He felt horrible, as did I, besides the fact it was destroyed and had to be rebuilt. I've see these somewhat protected by the facia board rising up to the underside of the bridge at the layout edge, but never really cared for how this looked.

Finally Have Some Warbonnet's

I finally got a set of Warbonnets, man these are nice, not quite as nice as say, the Genesis F units, not quite as nice as say, the Stewart or P2k F units, but nice none the less, these are MRC engines, I got em at a decent price, much more affordable than the P2k or the Genesis, and a littler nicer than the BB Athearns!

Handlaid Curved Turnout Frustration

OK, I've been following the "modified Tony Koester method" for handlaying turnouts for a couple years now.  For me, this means pre-laying the ties on roadbed, with PC ties replacing wood ties at strategic points, i.e.

Just Mailed My Order

I just returned from the post office after mailing my order for the Model Trains Video DVD "Ops Live Series" (should have done this sooner).

I had the great fortune recently to attend an operations session on the Bear Creek and South Jackson Railroad. It was my first ops session experience, and Charlie Comstock is a wonderful host. I will not soon forget the evening after operating on his fantastic railroad.

Now I want to learn more about live operations, and the videos should be a great overview.

Foam, lovely pink foam in California

We're re-roofing our house and that's required multiple trips to Home Depot in Monterey. On one of those trips, I was walking down the Insulation aisle and what to my wondering eyes did appear: pink Owens Corning extruded foam in several thicknesses. I don't know when they started carrying it, but if it's available here at HD it should be available elsewhere in California.

Rejoice all, for we have reached the promised land.

As many of you know I subscribe to almost all Model Railroad Magazines and periodicals.

An N scale AC-12 in a far flatland: Italy

As this place seems "immune" from the Intermountain's AC plague (Ho model seems to suffer of never end discussions and some N scale too), well, mine run nice from the beginning!

I just finished viewing volume #5 of Model-Trains-Videos By Joe Fugate and This 5 DVD series may be the best $100.00 I have spent on Model Railroading in the past 10 years. I have to say I highly reccomend thes 5 Videos to both experenced as well as Beginner Model Railroaders.

I bought the 5 DVD series just before Christmas and Last weekend I finally got to Disk and Volume 4 Scenery and Bridges part 1 last sunday March 14th. On tuesday the 16th I opened the final Disk #5 Scenery and Bridges part 2.
