ANSWERED. THANKS. Caulk vs. Putty vs. Spackle

I have built a small hill out of ever-smaller pieces of art store foam core board.  The steps are nowhere as near large as the pink foam shown in magazines.  For an N-scale or Z-scale diorama.  The question is, what do I smooth out the sides with to make a slope  ,,,,,  from what is now a bunch of 'steps'.

I used to use something which, when wet, looked much like oatmeal.  I preferred Durham water putty, but now I want something 'right out of the can, or tube'.

The 120 Day Challenge Second addition to Rico 3 Stall Engine House

With as much time as this took I was afraid I would never get the windows in place.

This first photo only shows 7 of the 13 windows per side and the side doors on the two 125 foot long walls

The upper wall is the exterior with the 24" wide brick pillars and the lower shot shows the interior wall with the roofs 10" X 10" timber supports.

Cork Roadbed

Has anyone heard anything about when Midwest's cork roadbed will be available? I had ordered some months ago, but the emails I keep getting from the vendor just tell me it is on back order.

Daisy Chain Freight Car List - anyone interested?

I had created a thread a while back, on trading engine decals to give my layout and others something different, and also provide forigin power to each others layout.  I had a few interested people, and look forward to having some unique engines in time on my layout.

120 day challenge first update blog

Well, after accepting the 120 day challenge that was posted, I was able to complete one of my goals so far.  I was able to get more wood to finish the bench work.  Although running out, I was able to get a small 4ft section of plywood after my wife told me so I grabed it for only a few dollars.  SO for now, all benchwork was done, and the next step is a bit of cleaning and sorting what is going where, and then on to the pink foam.  So without further delay here are some new pictures...

TCS FL4 for Athearn Bombardier Cab Car

Hey Guys,

Decided to light all my Athearn cars and put decoders in the cab cars for ditch lights and control of directional marker and headlights.  I was advised the TCS FL4 would have the required functions to do this.  Please note, I am still electrically a novice here.

Having only installed one TCS hardwire decoder before I was a little leary, but dove in.

So far I have installed the interior lights and capacitor and they work fine.  (LED strip lights).

Forums and Confusing newcomers to the hobby.

One of the big problems with forums is the authoritative postings of directly contradictory versions of important facts. surprise Not that this isn't a problem with the Internet in general as well. And lately, even with a major printed MR magazine.
