Wrecking Cranes - Links to photos - By Request.
I've googled for pictures and haven't come up with anything useful. Can anybody point me in the right direction. I'm also looking at converting my crane to diesel. I'm also going to DCC and motorize the crane per the MRH article.

I was mainly looking for prototype examples of Canadian Pacific Cranes, but here is some of what I found. Unfortunately some of the links I just saved images and did not keep the link. If I find more, I will post links here.

DCC Sound for Mantua Mallet
Hi Folks
I need some advice on my first foray into DCC Sound.
I have an Ho Mantua 2-6-6-2 Logging Mallet (tender version) which is in the process of being super detailed.
I want to fit DCC sound and very much like the look of Soundtraxx Tsunami. Question is, for a small articulated should it be the medium or heavy steam version?

Oh sure - NOW you've started something!
Since I had such a good time making the maintenance video, I decided to chronicle my conversion of an older Atlas GP38M. I have been putting off this (and other) conversions for quite some time, as I really have no place to run the trains when I get them finished. Ah well, It's fun and something to keep me occupied...
installing decoders in n scale steam
I have some questions on wiring a 4-8-4 bachmann, Im thinking of putting the pc board from a spectrum in the tender and wiring the loco that way. it seems most n steam decoders are in the tenders I.m also curious about some good guides for ding this pretty inexperienced but have electrical knowledge any input is appreciated. I alos have some model power engines that need lights wired considering a backup as well, all in time.

Rechargeable 9v batteries
Has anyone tried using rechargeable 9 volt batteries in Digitrax UT4D and DT402D throttles? It sees to me it might be a good use for rechargeables. Any info would be appreciated.
edited: UT4D rather than DT4D. I knew it didn't look right. What I get for being in a hurry.

Strip and Paint Loco body Letters
I'm going to strip and paint this 1951 Lionel Union Pacific loco but I have no idea how to repaint the raised plastic molded letters. Where the paint is it seems to be a "trench" with sides forming the letters Union Pacific. Has anyone had any experience in filling these "letter trenches" in with paint? I need a How-to...101 lesson.

Video of layout sound clinic in Grand Rapids
Hey all,
The clinic on layout sound at the 2012 Grand Rails meet went well (attendees are responsible for this:). Someone video'd the clinic. He asked permission, and because I didn't mind (and din't know the clinic would go so well:), I didn't ask for contact info...
Of course now I'd like to contact this fellow. I'd like to obtain a copy of the video to post in the layout sound Yahoo group. If anyone knows who this fellow is, or is this fellow, please contact me:

Jake's Abattoir, the herd arrives
The rest of the steers needed to fill up my stockyard arrived on Friday. Funny thing is that they arrive looking an awful lot like they do when they leave. I'll have to add some extra stenciling on the side of my stock cars... "some assembly required"
