Modeling flashing, roofing tar and such in HO scale?
I have some ideas, masking tape painted, aluminum foil for flashing, maybe white glue applied and built up and then painted black for roofing tar. Just wondering what other folks use?

Helpful Hints for Getting Started Building your first Model Railroad
Hello Everybody My name is Dan Kelley AKA: Rio Grande Dan here on the MRH forums.
I'm a member of the MRH Spam Police and spend 40 to 60 hrs a week reading through the many Posts and Blogs here on the MRH forums. While reading I keep seeing one problem that many new Model Railroaders are having and that is "WHERE & HOW DO I START?"

Home made Rail Bender - V1.0
Kevin said he was going to pick my brain about the rail bender I made. I figured I better do something quick before my brain has been picked bare.
Here's what Kevin was talking about. In my thread on the quarry tram line I wanted to see what a 10" radius looked like and whether a quarry car idea I had would work on a 10" radius curve. So I did a test track using my home made rail bender.

To Free-Mo or not to Free-Mo?
I've been thinking about my model railroad future for my new home and I definately want a design that allows for future moves. While surfing the web I ran across info on Free-Mo. (http://free-mo.org/). I'm already leaning towards a shelf style no wider than 24" so I thought "why not go modular so I can also enjoy my modules with others"? There is a Free-Mo club right here in central Florida! I'd like to get your thoughts on Free-Mo specifically along with other HO modular styles. Thanks!
100th Anniversary T&P Historic Station and Events with PHOTOS
For those of you looking for something to do on October 20th, 2012, please check out the attached Red River Valley Railroad Historical Society newsletter. If you are in East Texas or what we call the ArkLaTex area (Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas, where the three states come together) you have an opportunity to visit and photograph the UP 844.
Enjoy!

Are we allowed to post short newsletters in pdf format? How do you do it?
I received by email the latest Newsletter of the Red River Valley Railroad Historical Society, Inc. It is 4 pages about the 100th Anniversary of the Marshall, Texas T&P Depot, which is still in operation. UP is bringing in the 844 for this event. This all takes place October 20th.
I would like to share the newsletter as it has a lot of details about times, the museum, the displays and availability of the 844. I just don't know how to upload the pdf.
