Perseverance

I often strongly urge people to do their own research.  To keep poking around on the internet.

In a previous thread on the redesign of my yard I had mentioned that I didn't know what the P&R depot at Wilmington looked like because the Bernhardt book on P&R stations has pictures of two different buildings identified as the P&R depot at Wilmington.

While looking for someother information I was rummaging around in the Hagley Library digitail archives:

They have all sorts of industrial galleries.

N-Scale Gyralite

Hi All

I have an N-Scale Kato F3 with a Digitrax DN163K0b and Richmond Controls LEDs. My question is how do I set up a lower headlight 'Gyralight?' The decoder mentions that it's FX3. I looked up the programming how-to's on the Digitrax site, but I'm still confused. I know there'll be soldering to the pads on the decoder, but how do I program a function (I'm using NCE by the way) to turn on the Gyralight?

Thanks!

Greenpoint Dock and Transfer Company - On the Waterfront

"I coulda been a Contendah!"

Sorry, couldn't resist.  This post will detail scenery construction on the carfloat section of my layout.  This section of the layout is directly to the right of this section of the layout.

NOTE:  Posts will be added later today with further detail.  This initial post simply serves as a blog anchor.

Pipe Industry

Here's an industry you could model if you have a big basement.

Now to build some pipe cars.

HO Scale Motive Power question

Have been out of HO scale for some time now and looking to get back in.  With finances the way they are I am going to limit myself to one or two engines since I will be working a 2 x 16 switching layout.  Here is the rub, I want to be able to switch out a few buildings, the motive power, and some of the rolling stock to a different railroad and or era for different operating sessions.  I am partial to GP-9's and can think of six different railroads I want to model but I certainly don't want to have twelve engines if I go with pairs.

How to make concrete roads out of foamboard

I have been asked a few times to explain how I make my roads and such. I have waited until I needed a new road and today is the day.

N scale uncoupling

I hope this isn't a duplicate posting; I tried to submit it last week but it doesn't appear to have shown up.

I need a reliable way to uncouple cars on my N scale switching layout. The tracks are close together and the buildings are densely spaced.

I've tried the Rix tool, jeweler's screwdrivers and bamboo skewers, but nothing works as well as it should. Surely, somebody makes a device that will uncouple cars reliably without derailing them or jamming the couplers.

Suggestions? Please?

Rethinking a Layout

When I started designing and building my current layout, I had a list of things I wanted to incorporate into my dream layout but didn't have a prototype in mind to follow.  Not a problem right?
