Parade of Early Rail, #3--Add Ons
To All: I took the suggestion of some of you bloggers and until the photos are exhausted I will follow with four more photos each day on #3. Yours, Elvin Howland/E. St. louis Rail Group Layout

Anyone in the Montgomery AL area while visitng there next week?
I will be visiting therefrom 3/30 to 4/6 - omit the first and last days for travel/packing.
Thanks!
Two turn outs back to back - is it reliable?
Hello MRH Community.
I have lurked here for a while but am now designing a small layout and ran into a question on the reliability of a particular track configuration.
If I put two turn outs back to back, can a train be reliably pushed through the two curves? I am concerned I have created an S-bend that will give me trouble
I am looking at #6 turnouts and 60 ft cars.
A picture of what I mean is attached.
Thanks.
Glenn

What do you think of this layout plan?
Lower Level Staging - Bottom left goes up helix to second level, trains from East originate here. Two tracks in right circle are trains from West which lead to first level.

Making a panorama photo
After being grounded by a torn muscle I spent some time playing with the layout webcam, printing out various shots and gluing them together to make a panoramic view.
A web search led me to the Hugin software http://hugin.sourceforge.net/ and I found it reasonable easy to use.
After setting up my EOS 60D in the center of the layout room I made a couple of shots and this is the 2nd try with the SLR:

Best rail break between boosters sections ?
What would be the best rail break between booster sections:
Straight cut through both rails, staggered or a small totally isolated rail section (4 cuts) ?
BTW: would the 2 boosters (NCE 10A) operate in phase or do they run 'loose' sync wise ? My 1st guess is loose with just the command info going over the control bus ...
cheers, Leo

Modeling with Gatorfoam® CLINIC slides Day 2 March 25, 2013
Slide 7 This is the GF I picked up from my supplier, all cut to width x 8’ long. Dave Myers www.gatorfoam.net Currently he only ships up to 48”, as longer lengths are too expensive to safely ship. I was lucky enough to be close (NY to VT via ferry) and able to pick my ‘kit’ up from him. Notice the vertical Honeywell filtering fan. I run this 24 / 7 and it helps stop dust from settling on the layout.

Building of Iron Mountain, MI - Part #1
PART #1:
The bare area where Iron Mountain will be built. One of the patterns and the .060" styrene base to be used for the town and roads. This is were the 4' x 8' sheets will come in handy. Additional road work and scenery work.
Richard
Laying the roads in town. I will put tracing paper over this to make a pattern. Then that will be transferred to the styrene

A Photo Track Plan
Hello all. I just wanted to give some of you a heads up that I posted a photo track plan to my blog. I know several have asked to see some sort of a track plan to give a better idea what the overall railroad looks like. I don't have a drawing but thought some high above photos would do the trick. I know how things can get buried into a blog and lost. So, if you're interested, it's there. Thanks!
