Cricut "Print then Cut" for modeling
I was asked to explain how Cricut's "print then cut" feature works. This will be an overview and it is assumed that the reader has used a Cricut and knows the basics.
I have a standard Cricut Explore model.....very basic.
I design in Affinity Photo, export a PNG file and import it into Cricut's Design Space.
Be aware that Cricut works on a 144 dpi resolution and the most common graphics software uses 300 dpi. A simple solution (without having to design at 144 dpi) to this mismatch will be explained later .
GM&O Manifest Sheets
Where can I locate manifest sheets for GM&O local trains out of Jackson TN ln the late 1950s early 1960s ?

Code 70 to 83 compatibility
All of my layout is code 70 track and turnouts, ME and Shinohara. I need to install a right hand curved turnout and am wondering if a Peco curved code 83 #7 would be compatible with the code 70 ME track. My first attempt at hand laying a turnout has not been successful and at this point, I just want to get it done.

"Boxing in" a staging yard
I've decided to try and get the last of the layout "heavy construction" finally done. I'd been wanting to "box in" New London staging since it's the only part of the layout that's in an unfinished part of the basement and subject to dust. And I figured this would be a LOT easier than dismantling staging to finish this corner with studs, sheetrock & dropped ceiling. This photo and the next shows the first stick of "roof & valence support" going up.
Tru-Color Paint - Shelf Life Tips?
Hi,
(I've searched the forum but not found any answer. I may have missed it, so apologies in advance if this has been asked and answered.)
Does anyone have any tips for how to improve the shelf life of Tru-Color paints? I've found that the solvent tends to evaporate out of the paint and escape from the jars over time, leaving a thickened paint behind. I keep my jars in a closed plastic box, and inevitably there is a very noticeable solvent odor whenever I open the box, even tho the lids are all properly tightened on all the jars.
Re-motoring an engine
Howdy! I have a couple old steam and diesel locos that I'd like to re-motor with can motors, but I have no idea where to begin. How does one figure out what motor to use, and where can I buy them? I'm assuming new gearing is required, how does one go about that?
Thanks!
Seattle's Alaskan Way Viaduct
Half my layout is based on Seattle, just felt like the Viaduct was necessary. 3D bridge sections (from thingiverse) and wood supports.
Question about M.E. HO frogs
Was wondering how you solder a wire onto a Micro Engineering HO turnout frog. There is so much mass I'm sure the ties will melt before the solder flows. It would have been nice if they would have included in the casting a 1/4 inch long pin like protrusion pointing straight down to solder to. This could have dropped into a hole you'd cut in the roadbed. Oh well, maybe next time.

New life for a microbrush
Happy Thanksgiving to all!
Has anyone else taken a used micro-brush, cut off the formerly fuzzy tip, and found a useable uncoupling tool? I can share a picture if you think it would be helpful.
Thanks for looking!
