Video "Steam in the Snow" event at Conway Scenic Railroad

I spent All Day Saturday following ex Canadian National Locomotive #7470 for a special "Steam in the Snow" event. We had a great Day Photographing and Video recording the Event. Temps were 9 to 19 degrees. The Snow was fresh. This has been an annual event for the last 7 or 8 years. This will be the last one for some time as #7470 is going to be torn down for a Boiler Inspection. So I don't know when She will return to the Rails. Here's the video link.. Enjoy

SoundTraxx AT-1000 in Atlas GP39-2 - Lights?

Greetings,

I am installing a SoundTraxx AT-1000 sound decoder in one of my Atlas Trainman GP39-2s, but am having some difficulty getting the lights to work.  Before I go further, I thought I should ask around so I don't ruin or short out the decoder.

To start with, I followed the directions on this site for wiring:

Round house/turntable question

Has anyone ever put an Atlas round house with a Walters 90ft turntable? These are the items I have and need to work with but I'm not sure how it can be done. Any ideas? Thanks.

Switching Layout

I'm already bored with my existing layout and want to build another one. My problem is that I'm out of room and the wife won't concede on giving me another room. So I thought a small switching layout would be nice. I have several questions but first is that since the tracks don't complete a circle, how is it powered? I run DCC on my other one, can I still power a switching layout the same way?

Thanks-Tim

Parks Coal Shed

Nearing completion of the Parks Coal Shed. This is a scratch-built structure based upon the remaining prototype in Thornbury. I used engraved wood siding from Monster Modelworks, strip lumber from Mount Albert and Plastruct corrugated roofing material.

Intermountain HO AC12 cab forward

This is a DCC-ready version I am converting to Tsunami sound (specific cab forward version). Used an NCE 8-pin decoder to check out operations and it runs great.

The loco-to-tender connection is an 8-pin affair but it neither conforms to the NMRA standards for pin function nor wire color code.  Anyone know a source for the wiring diagram? The sister board, also in the tender, has labeled pads but not all are connected to anything,

Southern pacific Signals (BLMA signal)

I'm looking into purchasing the following two signals:
BLMA 4051 Single Head
BLMA 4050 Dual Head

I want to make sure that they are appropriate before I purchases them.

I will be using them to protect a siding.

Trying to achieve this look

I'm trying to match this colour of mud/dirt and look on this track. Any ideas, suggestions or tips would be much appreciated.

Returing empty flatcars

I have two flatcars one with a load and the other empty.During an operating session I swap the empty for the loaded.

I am assuming, for my purposes, this is a random car being loaded(not in dedicated service). My question did the chains/blocking material just get send back to the railroad?  Was it just thrown on top of the car and sent back ?

Would it be correct to have loose tie down material on the deck?

Thanks
