Video Clip
Just messing about with my iPhone and iMovie to make this very brief video from my layout...
On a pleasant summer afternoon the CNR mixed train crosses the bridge at Thornbury on its return trip from Meaford to Collingwood, ON.

Bachman HO Ore Car
Regarding the ore car question in the January 2014 issue in te Questions ad Answers section: Might the prototype be a Quebec, North Shore and Labrador car? Eric Stevens used the prototype QNS&L ore car for a dollar model project in a 1050s era Model Railrader article. A quick web earch showed a few photos of QNS&L ore cars similiart the Bachmann model.

OK, I'll Bite. . . .
I am looking for your Pros and Cons on DCC wiring.
Here's the situation: I started laying track awhile back and used some of those rail joiners with the wire attached - WRONG! When you ballast and they "disappear," you can't find them when you have a problem. So, as I progressed, I made drops where required and soldered wire to rail and that wire to a buss with a Scotch-Lok or stripped and soldered. So far so good.

Athearn - Split Gear Fix that works, completed
On Friday evening, 06 Dec. 2013, I attended the set-up of a local train show. I would love to have gone to the actual show on Saturday, 07 Dec, however, I had to work that day. I bought an Athearn (GP-7 / GP-9) diesel that evening. Circumstances were such that I could not test run it. When I, finally, got it home, and ran it on my layout, it sounded more like a distressed, ready to die steam loco, rather than a diesel.

Working on the railbus..
Got a little done on my HOn30 railbus today. Mostly the roof rack, Built out of Evergreen scale strips, it will allow for luggage and chickens on the roof (did I mention I model a railroad on a small Caribbean island?). Next up is a trailer for it, then some paint.

Weathering ties - before or after ballast?
I'm using Micro Engineering Code 83 track and want to weather the ties with some different colors. Your opinion please if I should do the work before or after ballasting. I plan on painting some of the ties different shades of grey and brown. Thanks.
