TCS KA on ESU LokSound decoder-Dangerous?

I am planning on installing an ESU LokSound decoder. I have seen somewhere(maybe YouTube) that using a TCS KA on the decoder would void the warranty and that there was a danger that the TCS KA could somehow burn up the decoder.

I do not have much experience with this type of thing, this will be my first time installing a decoder, and I dont plan to jump too deeply into programing the decoder...I just have the TCS KA and I thought it would be good to use.

Thank you for any help here.

Yard Lights

I have received the tower lights for both of the yards on my layout. They came with separate resistors that need to be soldered to each light. Does it matter which of the two wires  (assuming one is a positive lead and one a negative) the resistor is soldered to? Once done, I plan on sliding shrink tubing over the resistor to prevent damage.

3D printed Shay

I have been working on a project for a while now and I now that I have something to show I would post where I am at with it, and where I a going (or need to go).

I started to design an On3 shay that I had planned to scratch build from brass.  The original intent was to have some parts printed by Shapeways in brass, while other parts I would use existing castings from PSC along with photo etched parts for the boiler, cab, and tender.  My main goal was to be able to use a can motor to power the shay, rather than the coreless motors typically used.

Painting Balsa Wood - Seal it First?

Does anyone have experience painting balsa wood on your buildings?  Being as soft as it is, I have a feeling the wood will soak up paint like a sponge.  I mostly curious if the wood should be sealed with something prior to painting.  I'll be using these 1/16"-thick clapboard siding panels. My plan is to cut the panels to size, cut the window and door openings, affix the window and door casings to the panel, and paint the panels on both sides.

Thanks!

Having trouble with my Digitrax slots

Hello I am having trouble with my Digitrax System ...

I had reached slot max at 22 before; but through some fumbling by me was able to add some engines.  I thought I had removed the slot max problem: I may have.  I have the following PS2012 power supply, a DB150 and a DCS100 all hooked to gether with a PM42 Quad and a PM42 break out board.

Bi-color LED Marker Lights

So I've added a Lok sound 5 to an Atlas H-16-44.  This loco originally came with it's own DC/DCC decoder and was supplied with directional LED marker lights (4) that were RED/Green.   Each of them has 3 wires:  Black Red and White

On the loksound decoder,  the only way I am able to get them to light is by:

Black to Aux 1, Red or White to Common to give Red or Green respectively

RDA Delaney Iron Works - Build or dump into the spare parts box?

So my favorite activity is building structures but my oversized door layout is done and dusted with only the endless list of detailing still to do. With the New Year upon us I have the itch to build a structure just for fun. I have had this kit for a number of years and am tempted to build it but have read that it can be a real challenge with a plethora of issues that require sanding, filing, filling, etc. Anyone have any experience building this kit and if so did you get it done or pack it back up and put it on the shelf in frustration?

R.I.P. track APRON

I would like to enclose my R.I.P. track in cement so that lifttrucks can move material and jacks can be used when replacing wheels.  I am toying with using plaster of paris or styrene but would like to hear how others have done theirs.

Thanks for any input.

New! The Motorman Automatic Reversing Train Shuttle Controller

New! From Iowa Scaled Engineering, the Motorman is an automatic reversing train shuttle controller for both DC and DCC locomotives. Using TrainSpotter infrared proximity detectors at each end, the Motorman will continuously drive the train back and forth, automatically stopping and reversing at the end of track. With control of the speed, locomotive address, delay time, and many other settings, a fully customized experience can be created.

Are there prototype run around layouts findable?

Here a fan of american railroads.

Just to give an idea of a prototype circling railroad with decent mesurements. I found this in the harbour area of Savannah, Georgia. As an H0 scale model railroad it requires 4,7m by 5,6m to build WITHOUT compression.

Isn't that nice as a starter?
