Paperwork on the BNML

My recent Op Session gave me an opportunity to test drive my homebrew Car Card & Routing system.

The system is a modified version of the Car Card and the TIBS system.

This blog is a continuation of my entry called Blocking the BNML

Z Scale billboard lights

A friend asked me to design billboard lights and am sharing here what I did for a Z-Scale billboard, he proudly mounted on his briefcase layout.

The billboard is from a laser wood kit, but getting the correct lamps was a challenge in Z-scale.

I decided to use the SMT 1206 type of led since I had surplus of these from making ditch lights for locomotives and other HO and N scale lighting applications.

AHM Flexi-Flo hopper-FINISHED

https://www.flickr.com/photos/53243414@N00/?details=1

The AHM car is toy that has potential. I'm spent several hours deconstructing the car before I could start building.

I rebuilt the end platforms, removed the vertical side ribs, to small, and did lots of work to improve the body ends.

I'm rebuilding the hopper bottoms which is a chore. Plano has a kit coming out next month, that's what made me

dig this 22 year old project out of the junk box. The side ribs will be replaced with .060 half round that's on order.

Tripod mount for my iPhone for better video

I noticed how shaky my recent video was of the train run by so I decided to get a tripod mount for my iPhone 4S.  This little item set me back $13.00 and I really like it.  Here's a picture of it:

Experience with Iowa Scaled Engineering servos for switch points

I have installed some servo motors and control electronics purchased from Iowa Scaled Engineering for throwing the switch points.  The experience has been very positive, and I cannot say enough about the great support that these guys provide for their products.  They make it clear that the customer comes first.  Here is a summary of my experience:

Modeling Slugs N Scale

anybody model any N scale slugs?

thinking about tackling this "bash" to have one on the roster

never did a "bash" of this level so it will be a big learning curve surprise

thinking of starting with a burned up atlas loco and modify / order parts as needed

got any ideas or other info that might be helpful?

Add an overflow pipe for your pond / lake now available as a free PDF

First, Thanks to Alan of the LK&O for teaching me how to setup the link for the PDF.

A while back I had shared on my blog on MRH how to scratch build a overflow pipe for a pond / lake along with doing the scenery work around the water.  There is a picture below of the area nearly completed on my previous Richlawn RR.  If you're interested in having a downloadable step-by-step then just click on the link.

My vacation at Everman

Last week I took a little vacation for myself. Wednesday I drove down to the FWWR main office at Hodge Yard. After going into the office and talking to some personnel about my situation and was able to talk to a dispatcher. He took a couple of minutes to answer some questions I had about the Everman area. The FWWR had created a small office down there so crew could pick up paperwork for the day.

How do you include a PDF in a post that has been uploaded to the MRH servers?

From time to time I'd like to make a web post here that contains a link to a PDF that I'm uploaded to the MRH servers.  Is there a way to do this, and if so, how?  Thanks!
