Trainmasters Subject Suggestion
I'd like to see a video demonstrating prototypical sound operation sequences. For instance start up, release brakes, revving up, coasting, coupling, etc. It would be cool to have a split screen with one shot of the model going through the sequences and the other showing the operators hand working the throttle.

Video Editing Software Question
I'm about to dip a toe into the world of model railroad video making and would appreciate any recommendations for a straightforward free video editor program.
I downloaded Lightworks on to my laptop for a 'look see', but when returning a couple of weeks later to install on my main machine for a first serious go, I hit multiple issues.
I ended up drowning in a sea of problems; license reactivation, password error, email confusion, token error confusion, machine license confusion and to be honest, rapidly lost the will to live.

Can someone fill me in on the proper use for Kapton Tape.....?
Having read in so many articles about Kapton tape, I finally bought some. I then looked it up on the Web, and it seems it's used for assembly of components on PCB's as well as an insulating shield against shorts. I assumed it was like a super thin black electrical tape. It's not. I tried using it to wrap soldered wires but it would not stick or wrap. As it's so thin, I tried to wrap an LED I had sanded the base off so it would fit into a hole in my headlight to insulate the anode and cathode from contacting the brass, as black tape was too thick

Modeling the Union Pacific Portland Rose 1968 Train #17/18 Pike Size Passenger Train
First let me state that I am not Union Pacific modeler, I model the Spokane Portland & Seattle 5th subdivision in 1968 which crossed the UP mainline at the Celilo Bridge and connects at OT Junction. I am a long way off from modeling this area, but in doing some research about the area I came across an image of the Portland Rose cruising along the south bank of the Columbia River. What peaked my interest was the fact the train was a very short prototype train that would be great sa a Pike Size passenger train.

Crazy idea? 3D printed turntable pit
I started drawing a trestle to see how the parts would fit together. One thing led to another, and I decided to draw an entire turntable pit, retaining wall (there's no pit wall on my prototype) and runoff trestle as a single piece. Shapeways says they can print it, and with the holiday sale going on it ought to be in the $40-$45 range.

Opinions on how to do a repair
Item: Athearn SW-7 locomotive, converted to DCC.
Finished painting, DCCing etc, but no have an issue.
On the ends, the coupler has the standard Athearn metal clamp over the chasis tongue. Since this is an engine, the tongue is metal, not plastic.
The tongue has a couple of knobs, one on each side, for the metal clamp to snap over. On this engine, 1 of those knobs is now gone.
2 possible fix its I can think of:
1. Super glue the clamp to the one side.

A Scratch Built Station for the PC&N Ry.
My progress so far on the Pacific City Station for my HOn3 PC&N Ry. It is based on the S.P.C. Agnew's Station. So far the most challenging part are those roof braces! I am still pondering the color scheme, but am currently leaning towards a medium grey body with dark green trim.

Platforms in the 1950s
Hi fellow modelers,
I am in the process of assembling the Walthers Station Platform Kit to go with the Union Station. Did the prototype platforms have any markings such as a line painted on the edge of the platform during the 1950s era? What was the color of the line and the distance between the platform edge and the line?
Looking forward to your replies.
Thanks and regards.
Johan
