Starting Over - A layout experiment
I've chosen to completely demolish (nicely) my current layout for many reasons. First, it took most of the basement when my boys were infants. Now that they are no longer "afraid" of the basement, they venture down there to play hockey/soccer when some winter days are too cold in the small amount of space available, it was time to increase that. Secondly, I discovered that there was just too much layout for the time that I could dedicate to it as well as inconvenient places around a few high usage doors and hallways.

FINALLY I ENDED MY BACK DROP!!!!
Hi everyone!!!
Finally I ended my back drop inspired on "Esperanza - Puebla", from this spot you can see this two volcanos: Pico de Orizaba and Malintzin. Yes of course is not a replica 1 to 1, and has a pinch of cartoon but i considered this is enought for my pourpouses. I have relied on Joe Fugate's videos. As you can see my idea is to do a woodland scenery, without thereby losing attention on trains. Please feel free to comment, always your ideas help me.
12 V or 24 V coreless motor? Help please!
I want to remotor one of my O scale engines using a coreless motor. Coreless motors the size needed for an O scale engine are expensive (at least here in Germany). A suitable 12 V coreless motor is about 125 EUR (OUCH). Now I saw the same motor, only as 24 V version for 75 EUR. Being no expert when it comes to these electrical matters I wonder if it would make any difference or is the 24 V motor not going to work properly? I am running with DCC, so adjusting the start voltage would be no problem if necessary.

Good service
Got my Dremel tool back. Seems I burned it out a couple of weeks ago by too much dust intake. (This was the one I won as a doorprize). Turns out that it had a 2 year warranty, not 1 like I first thought. All cleaned up and returned in just a bit more than mail time each way.
Nice to see a company stand behindtheir products.

Painting Acrylic Fence Supports
I just installed an 8" high 1/4" thick acrylic glass fence around the front edge of my sectional layout, partly to keep rolling stock from falling off if derailed, and partly to protect it during moves.
Currently the vertical fence supports stick up above the fascia approximately 7.5" and are bare wood. They are 1 x 2 pieces with a 1/4" routed groove.

Does anyone have experience setting up the engine driver app to use a phone as a throttle?
