BQR Control Panel continued -- finishing up
Been back working on the control panel -- starting to really appreciate the flexibility of using wire-wrap for this type of application. It has given me the flexibility of making changes -- like discovering that my idea of sharing on PM42 between two boosters was really a bad idea. The second PM42 is on my bench waiting to be installed. The impact to the control panel was discovering that the four bicolor power status LEDs needed to expand to eight (or run wires from the BDL168s plugs) -- and my vendor didn't have any more of that flavor of LEDs for a while.

Orange Blossom Cannonball 1 to 1 scale
No, it's not a model! This weekend there is a big festival in Winter Garden, Florida and the Orange Blossom Special has excursion trips from Winter Garden to Ocoee Florida which is about a 25 minute trip. I grabbed my new camcorder and caught the train as it was leaving Ocoee. I was hoping they would be using their steam engine but they used the diesel instead.
Shapeways Chevy Truck w/Lights
I picked up the Chevy and Dodge 3D printed N scale trucks from Shapeways. I'm impressed at the detail attainable with 3D printing. The trucks came in clear styrene. I gave them a coat of primer then coats of Mr. Color for the red and Mig Ammo Rubber & Tires Acrylic for the tires and rubber. Tamiya clear red and clear yellow for the lights. I ran .25mm fiber optics for the front and rear lights. This size proves a little small for the front lights, but great for the taillights. Somehow one of the rear view mirrors got busted off in shipping or by me. The way it goes.

Horseshoe & Cottonwood R.R.
Since I was a kid camping and hiking in the Eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains of California I would always survey the terrain as we drove and hiked. Each curve and grade an enticing challenge for steel wheels on steel rails. I'd imagined a route a railroad might have used to open up the vast interior of the high Sierra. Without a map, it's hard to imagine just how much open space there really is up there: Alpine meadows that are miles long and miles wide, saddles, valleys, canyons and of course snow-capped peaks.
How to discontinue and find a home for husband's "N" gauge layout
My husband passed away last year and has quite an extensive layout. Where and how do I start to find a new home for it? Are there places that would take it as a donation?

Fine weeds for your scenery needs
For those of you who have noticed the "Adding Rust Piles to your Layout" entry, I have another tip which happens to be my personal favorite because it is absolutely free and offers the most bang for your anti-buck.

IAIS's West End - E. Nishnabotna River - Completed photos & video
The largest bridge on my portion of the IAIS is the ballast deck girder bridge over the West Branch of the East Nishnabotna River, just west of Hancock, Iowa. I've finally been making some progress on the model in recent days and thought I'd start an entry to chronicle its construction.

My first real attempt at a HO scale " foreground" conifer
There's a couple of other threads on conifer trees right now and I apologize because I know some folks will feel all we need is another one but one of those threads is about a method in the magazine this month and the other is one I started seeking trunk proportion info but it's more or less turned into an arborist discussion group.
