CN Mainline Continuous Point Switch
I’ve been meaning to get photos of this turnout for a long time. A while back I was debating point lengths on various hinge point turnouts. Well here is one that has no hinge! I can confirm as I walked every inch of it about four times. And gaps that ever did exist have been welded. CN line along Grandview Highway in Vancouver at Kaslo Street. Just west of Central Hobbies. The switch is behind me in this shot.
Swamp water
One of the regular members here had asked about muddy water for a module they are working on. I had taken quite a few in progress shots doing a similar scene. Rather than hijack Dee's thread with all this I will just do a separate thread. Maybe it will be of some use for someone here.
The basics: My module is on a piece of 2" foam. For the terrain changes I used 1/2" foam board. For the rock outcroppings I used accoustic ceiling tile broken randomly by hand.
TCS UWT-50 Encoder or Potentiometer?
The UWT-50 development team had a debate recently about encoders vs potentiometers. My favorite has always been the potentiometer, and I didn't really care if we had an encoder version or not. But I know there are people who would prefer the encoder version. So here is my question. What advantages do you see with the encoder version over the potentiometer version?

I'm planning to model wind
I'm thinking about modelling wind as just another aspect on my layout. I'm thinking in a town or valley area and I've marked out items this should work well a person reading a newspaper, bushes trees, flags washing on a line etc.
I'm doing trials a the moment and how I'm going manage air flow around the layout to certain spots.

Lehigh Cement conveyor slope too steep?
After 11 days without power, I am finally back working on the railroad. The prototype has a huge silo used to load two dry bulk trailers at a time. Mine has to be seriously compressed but still turned out to be very tall. I've completed the conveyor that runs from the mill building to the truck loading silo, but I didn't appreciate how steep the angle is from the mill building on the left to the top of the silo until I put it all together and got a look at it.
Looking for Bachmann Donor - 44/70 Ton 2-motor
I just picked up two disassembled 1st generation (2-motor) Bachmann GE 44 tonners, and have enough parts to have made one complete runner. The only thing preventing me from getting the second one going is the lack of the 8/13 compound gear that connects the motor's worm gear to the drive axle gear.
So, I'm looking for a donor 1st generation 44 or 70 tonner for parts. I'll take a complete chassis with trucks, or just a single truck, just so long as I can get that part out of it. I don't care about cracked drive axle gears, missing wheels, etc.
Old Shovel Disasters at Bingham Canyon Mine.
Not a very safe job when you are a shovel operator. Manefay slide April 10, 2013 was the largest nonvolcanic landslide in history.
Trying to Create Realistic Brick
It took weeks to cut 6 hrs of video to less than 20 mins. Hope it works.

Is it Light, Medium or Heavy Steam?
I know it has been a long time since I posted anything. I have been lurking on the site off and on.. I am still building my layout from my own design. Like a lot of people I am working from home during the pandemic and I have more time to build my layout. I do have a question for the steam enthusiasts on the forum, but first let me provide a some history.
