Making magnetic brake hoses, was: Is anybody using the MagnaLock Brake hoses?

Is anybody using the PWRS MagnaLock Brake hoses?

Do you like them?

I'm considering using these for my own layout and I'm looking for any feedback you might have.

Classic Miniatures Hopper Kit

Frame construction. A lot of little pieces but straightforward really. The nbw's are at my limit of dexterity and eyesight.

I called this Hopper con pana!

Idea for mounting figures

While looking for a straight razor it occurred to me that all those old blades must be good for something. One happened to have a stack of rare earth magnets attached so a light bulb went off.

A small piece of blade super glued to the feet of a couple of my miniature members was easy enough and a hole drilled into a test board for the magnet shows that this has some promise. I'm thinking that a larger magnet under a station boardwalk would work as well.

Your opinion please - (Decided!) - placement of Tam Valley's Singlet(tm) turnout controls

** UPDATE 12-31-15  I decided to recess mount the turnout controls in the foam top of my layout.  Thanks to all for your input and suggestions.  You can see a video about the fabrication and installation HERE.

Hello all!  I'm asking your advice on the placement of Tam Valley Depot's "Singlet" turnout control panels on my layout.  Here's a picture of the control panel (from Tam Valley's documentation):

Consolidated Stencil

When did the Consolidated Stencil start showing up? I always thought it was 1974, but I have seen at least one source say it was 1970.

Conductors App for the BNML (Laying down the law, continued)

This is a continuation of my previous post called "Them's the brakes, Laying down the law on the BNML".

Along the way, I decided that rather than handing crews a clipboard full of paper when they arrive, I would digitize the procedural paperwork and crews could access it on their smartphones.

Winter hit the Inverlael Distillery

Last night the area at Inverlael was hit by a small snow storm. And so today
the crew of the Ivatt had to shunt the snow covered Inverlael distillery.

Winter on the Garve and Ullapool Railway

I wish everyone of you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Today I could finish the filming for my A day at the Garve and Ullapool Railway Series.

Signature Trees Of The Central California Coast - Was Testing

This is more of a test than anything else. A friend of mine is building a layout based on the SP between Salinas and Gilroy, including the Monterey Branch. Like a dumb <censored>, I volunteered to research  and build signature foliage for the area. Signature trees for the area include Monterey cypress, Monterey pine, Coast live oak and eucalyptus (multiple species with different appearances).

Kitbashing a tired old AHM kit into something new.

I needed a yard office for the west end of the yard on my layout.   I dug through my stash of the old and forgotten kits and parts and found this old AHM station in pieces and poor disrepair.    This building was on one of my original layouts as a teenager and hasn't seen the light of day in 30 years.
