Now The Fun Begins
WIRING IS DONE1 Tested. Everything works. Tortise slow-motion switch machines installed on main line turnouts. Place-holder buildings will slowly be replaced with highly detailed scenery. Just got my photo interiors for my buildings.

4 x 8 Table Dynamics
I have built two 4 x 8 layouts in the past using 1/2 inch plywood and using the tried and true methods of framing and cross members as depicted in railroad magazines and never had a problem. I am planning another one and woke up in the middle of the night with a concern. The legs are attached, not to the outside corners, but to two cross members. My thought is that all the weight of the table, and Hydrocal mountains, is concentrated on the four points of the top of the legs, or more precisely, on the two cross members.

IAIS's West End - What types of posts do people read most?
I've been an MRH Forum member for almost 7 years now, but didn't start a blog here until about 3-1/2 years ago. I do a lot of analytics and number-crunching at work and find that sort of thing interesting, so every year or so, I think it's fun to go through my blog summary "Reads" count at http://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/blog/joe-atkinson just to see what subjects might have caught people's attention the most relative to one another.

Soldering Techniques - Surface Mount Componets
Literally stumbled across this YouTube video - not directly connected with model railroading but the techniques apply for anyone who would be doing any sort of soldering on a small scale.

SO I got the fast tracks #6 code 70 fixture the other day and have spent a few hours making some frogs and trying to figure out how to put the wood ties on the code 83 turnouts I made using just the templates.
The Bighorn Sub
Below is the plan for my Bighorn Sub, modeling the BNSF circa 2000 between Sheridan and Parkman, Wyoming. More to follow.

Proto Weathering Help
Hi guys. I'm wanting to weather an Accurail D&RGW Cookie Box Car and for the life of my internet searches I can't find any prototype photos for guidance. Everything comes up out of the box models images. I'll be real embarrassed if this is one of those "manufacturer licensing jobs" that never really existed. But then, I can go to town at that point and get jiggy wit it...! What the "H".. I'm a blues dude and I just used "jiggy"... Help?!?!
Thanks in Advance...Jeff El 1964

Norwottuck RR progress
First image of my layout I wanted to share. All it needs is power, 40 feeders, DCC, scenery, buildings, people, trees, and oh yeah - trains.
Part #4, Railroad Maintenance of Way
To All; I captured this CSX car on film at Saginaw, Michigan in the 1990's. It is CSXT Classroom car #940203, rebuilt from C&O MoW Kitchen Car #K102 (originally Army troop kitchen car #K376). Thanks to Tony/thor73 and the link for the information on this car This car would be a fun kit bash or scratch build. Photo by Elvin Howland. Yours, Elvin Howland/E. St. Louis Rail Group Layout.
