DCC for Walthers 90' Turntable Kit and Motor
I have a Walthers 933-3171 90' turntable kit and a Walthers 933-1050 motor for the kit, and I have been trying to find a way to control the turntable using DCC. Has anyone tried to do this? If so, can you point me towards some instructions on how to set it up?
Thank you for any suggestions.

My staging/storage yard
I need some help and ideas on configuring my storage yard. I was looking at off-layout storage for my rolling stock, but decided to add a drop down gate to cross the doorway to a 90" x 18" yard.
The following is a trial of using scarm and trying to layout as some sort of a yard to hold my equipment. I will be using a #6 fast tracks jig for the turnouts. This is in HO scale. Oh ya, I don't have a clue about this yard business.

Retention pond with overflow pipe now available as a downloadable PDF
Some while ago I did a blog entry on this website showing how I did a retention pond with a overflow pipe. It's not a new posting; however I've included a link below to my website below to a PDF that you can read or download. I got the idea from making a PDF of Rob Spangler's excellent thread on his water feature here on MRH. I'm thinking about "publishing" more of my how-to's if there's interest.
N scale turnouts?
I would like to get a few Atlas #7 switches to speed up construction of my layout but they are still out of stock everywhere I've looked. With the continuing shortage of Atlas switches I'm wondering how the alternatives stack up? Anyone using Micro Engineering code 55 #6 switches and able to give a short review of them? ......DaveBranum

Using Krylon Matt spray
Ok, I've gotten my powders and water based paints to do my weathering. I was going to try the powder and 70% alcohol mix, elmers white glue and powder, and mix powder with paint.
I've read and seen people using Krylon Matt finish instead of Testors Dullcoat.
Should I spray the car with the matt finish BEFORE I add the powder and paint and then again afterwards to seal it?
Switch-Works Laying Tie Plates
This video shows how to use the Switch-Works to lay tie plates. Switch-Works is a set of jigs for assembling "Museum Standard" track featuring wooden ties, metal tie plates, etched frogs and machined points.
