Modeling topic
Generic or Prrototype Steam engines
I have just downloaded a trackplan as well as the associated video.
The builder has taken great care and has modeled a specific area and modeled the railroads that actually served the area.
The railroad buildings are good resentations of actually was built. The rolling stock is more or less correct. However, I can not overlook that fact that this is a Canadian railroad and of a specific area.
EMD SD 24 by Hallmark Models
I acquired two brass SD 24s made by Hallmark models today. They are quite old and show some very mild rust or dirt on them. I would like to get them all cleaned up and painted, then add dcc sound to them. So I am looking help on where to start. I also notice that they don't have the windows or number boards with them. So I need to know where I can find them.
Any help would be appreciated
Alan.

Opinions please on using 2" foam as the sub-roadbed on my benchwork
Elsewhere on this site there has been some discussion on using foam board and sound issues. I am planning on using 2" extruded foam board as the top for my wood bench work without using any plywood. The foam would also serve as my sub-roadbed on which I would use adhesive caulk with either traditional cork or the WS foam roadbed. I thought that I would like to use the foam for the bench top because of how easy it would be to sculpt the land forms.

Armchair Modeling
In the April issue of MRH mag some writers panned my area of comfort and expertise, Armchair Modeling. I have been doing it for many years and blogging about it for the last 2 years or so. There is also another down under.

Misc Structures on the 8th Sub
I've been working on some structures so I can get a better handle on the composition of Junction City's downtown. Before finalizing locations of streets, parking lots and so on I wanted to make some progress on a few things. None of this stuff is really "done" yet, as I still need to do more weathering, window glass, light baffles to block views through building interiors, and various other items.

Construction of the Second Spline Helix & Hidden Staging Area - Progress Update
SPLINE HELIX UPDATE: Back a few months ago, someone asked about how engines and cars would be prevented from falling off of the helix. Originally, I thought about using cardboard or hardboard strips. However, their use would have reduced the narrow opening between helix turns so I looked around the garage and found some left over screening (nylon or fiberglass). I also bought some white poster board from a local office supply.
