Trackwork

Rail Type Compatibility

I have a layout that has the older brass track.  I want to expand but I am not certain the nickel/silver track is compatible with the brass track.  Different friends have different opinions.  Any input would be helpful.

Mixing Track Brands

Any issues using micro engineering turnouts with atlas flex track from an operational stand point? Should I use a certain rail joiner?

I have a bunch of atlas flex track and haven't bought the micro engineering turnouts, but I'm thinking about using them instead of getting atlas turnouts.

Walters NSC well car (3-unit)

I bought a 3 pack of these cars, but there is no drawbar to connect the 3 cars together. Are they supposed to come with one or do I have to get it separately?

There is a coupler on 1 end of 2 of the cars, that's it.

N Scale Layout

I got bored and decided to build a new N scale layout ......reusing most of what I kept over the years.

Benchwork is built by ripping a sheet of 1/2" Birch plywood into 3" wide strips....the sheet I started with was purchased from a local lumber yard that sells quality wood, not the crap that Home Depot or Lowes sells.

The strips are then cut to length for what is needed for a given part..........frames are 2' x 8' with a 1' x 2' tapered section added on 1 end.

Using Reflow Solder techniques to build a Proto:87 Stores frog

On the Office Park zone, I want to use track and turnouts from my existing supply instead of buying a bunch of new track. All of my available Micro Engineering code 70 #6 turnouts will be for the shop layout.  That leaves the Shinohara #4 turnouts for the Office Park zone.

Dropping a feeder

A recent thread discussed the need for feeder conduits in foam. The consensus was that permanent conduits are not necessary, but temporary conduits might make the installation go a little faster. Having occasion to add some feeders to the LT&SS, I thought I'd give it a try. Here is what I came up with.
