BLMA RADIO ANTENNA
to all....i recently purchased this BLMA radio antenna for my "N" scale "glendale AZ" depot. the instructions say to bend your tower & "glue" it together. it doesn't mention what type of glue. so proceeded to use "CA" cement. i have assembled a few other etched metal models with no problem using "CA" . for some reason, the "CA" is not working on this model.
Puff tree contest?
I was just reading (and posting) to Douglas's thread ( http://model-railroad-hobbyist.com/node/9678 ) on puff trees (which I used on my former layout) and thought: Why not have a puff tree contest? People could post pictures of their puff trees and an objective judging panel could choose the best looking entries and maybe be awarded a prize (like 6 months free of MRH magazine?
In Defense of the Puff Ball
Recently here and elsewhere I have encounter a lot of folks attacking the poor puff ball. So I thought I would post this as a topic for folks to consider before bashing the puff ball. Because I know folks right now that would like to use them but frankly don't not because they have an issue with them but because they do not want to be criticized about them (I kid you not).
So here goes.
Some things to keep in mind about puff ball trees.
Greenpoint Dock and Transfer Company - On the Waterfront
"I coulda been a Contendah!"
Sorry, couldn't resist. This post will detail scenery construction on the carfloat section of my layout. This section of the layout is directly to the right of this section of the layout.
NOTE: Posts will be added later today with further detail. This initial post simply serves as a blog anchor.
How to make concrete roads out of foamboard
I have been asked a few times to explain how I make my roads and such. I have waited until I needed a new road and today is the day.
GLENDALE AZ DEPOT FINALLY COMES TO MY LAYOUT
to all...here are a couple of pics of the depot in glendale az. & also a short summery of it's history.
i was going to scratch build this structure but , one day when i was on ebay, i found this plasticville model that is very close to the prototype. so i thought for $10.00 i would take a chance. when i received the kit, i was surprised to see it was a snap together kit.
The Brandywine & Benedictine Railroad - Suwanee, GA
This is the fourth layout I operated on at Dixie Rails. It is a great example of a well planned layout and a great craftsman. The B & B is in two parts very good investment in time to watch both, many great ideas. You will have to open post to see second link to part II.

The Diamond River Valley Railroad- Lawrenceville, GA
The is another of the great model railroads of the Dixie Rails group. Great operations and layout design. Built switches in place buy printing Fast Track diagrams and gluing them into place and building on top of them.

Old Stuff
If you’ve been modelling for any length of time you probably have a collection of Really Neat Stuff you bought years ago and still haven’t found a use for. My Stuff includes a fair bit of stripwood and milled siding (bearing prices like 43 cents to attest to its age) which periodically comes to the surface, reminding me that I really ought to build something with it.
THE SAINT LOUIS GATEWAY N GAUGE RAILROAD
This N Gauge Layout is part of Dixie Rails in the Atlanta GA area. This is the best running N gauge layout I have ever operated on. It is DCC and not once the whole night that we ran 50 trains did we have one problem due to track of electrical connections. The owner John Wilson has come up with a system of moving blocks of cars with markers on top that are easy to read for all of us who do not see numbers on N scale cars well.
