Richlawn Railroad Misti Falls fly over

The falls aren't finished; however, I wanted to do a short video (26 seconds) of a "fly over" of the falls to give you an idea of how it looks as static pictures only show a small portion.  It was shot with my iPhone(tm) 6 and the focus isn't the greatest.

If you thought T Scale (1:450) was small check out TY Scale (1:900)

I was just browsing around looking for some interesting railroad things and found this noteworthy one. I am not sure how many people have heard of TY scale (I am sure most have heard of T) but it is small following I will have photos comparing T and TY scale sadly none of them together but they will give you the idea of size.

The largest of these is 4"x7"

Cover that up! / Layering scenery

This is old news for many of you, but it's such an important part of realistic scenery that I wanted to restate it:  Cover your scenery (layer) with additional scenery layers.  I once saw a layout where the modeler had done some great rock work and was reluctant to cover his beautiful rocks with other scenery.  The result was artificial in that the rocks look like they were stuck on top as an afterthought.  Of course such rock outcroppings do exist in real life and that's fine if that's what your are modeling

O Scale Scratchbuilt Roadside Produce Stand

I went thru my scrap box yesterday and came up with this idea.  Shack and truck flatbed was made from scrap Alder wood.  Roof is printed card stock ran thru paper roller (bought at Hobby Lobby).  Everything was weathered with chalks.

1:50 Road Grader

I bought this little grader off of EBay with intentions of weathering and re-selling but it looks so good on my diorama that I think it is a keeper.  This grader was weathered with sandpaper, chalks (alcohol used as bonding agent) and real dirt.  I even shot the windshield with my pin nailer to get realistic broken glass.

My first Scenery Attempts

Here are some more photos of the scenery for my club layout. This is all in an 18" by 6" scene with backdrops by backdrop junction. This is still the example module I showed awhile ago but more views.

My personal favorite done with flash on an iPhone

One done the same way

Scenery colors... Union Pacific

Hi all.

To be a Portuguese modeler, and loving Union Pacific trains is sometimes overwhelming.

I had enough with the greenish, Christmas look-a-like layouts that I build over the years, and I would like to try something new to me. Yeap, you guessed it, Mike Confalone's BEAUTIFUL Allagash made wonder if I could do something like that, using some of his scenery techniques.

So, here is where my doubts come in:
