Black Valence/Fascia

I did get several tasks done that it's only taken me nearly 25 years to get to, like completely installing all of the black-painted valance around the layout. No more back of upper deck benchwork on the lower deck! Makes the layout look a lot more finished.
Hmm, I think I was shocked. Black? I've been a fan of black fascias or valences for a long time but thought the common wisdom was to use a more scenic color like Pullman Green, or Olive Green or dirt color or whatever.
Working with real dirt and rocks
After an enjoyable vacation to the Owens Valley and Sierra Nevada, I came back with about 100 pounds of dirt and gravel from the right of way of the old Carson & Colorado. The Laws museum was kind enough to offer an out of the way section of the track to dig on.
Facepalm
Today I got on a bus to go to the shoreline to take some photos my diorama outdoors and use the coast inland for the background, but after taking the first shot, my camera battery died. I only got one shot of the diorama. Hopefully next week I'll go again with the battery charged and an extra camera.

Design Software
I am looking for a free I hope, design software that will allow me to do structure drawings. Does Xtrac software work or do I need something else?

The roof of Martisco station
So I'm going to attempt a recreation of Martisco station from the New York Central in N Scale:
Made some videos...
Hi all.

I gatthered the two Hobbys (Model Railroading and Content creation and multimedia (and everything computer related)) I have into three videos.
Unsteady Progress, As Per Usual
Having an unfortunate amount of free time, and a layout in my living room instead of halfway across the country, apparently doesn't equate to things being accomplished any faster. Can you believe that?
