Catalogues of Cast Iron Facades, Trusses, and Related Items

I have been messing around with my new laser cutter, and I am particularly interested in old storefronts.  In my research, I came across a website that has a number of George Mesker & Co. catalogs for cast iron facades, marquise, and related items.  They are from 1900, 1903, 1904, 1905, 1909, and 1928.

Conifer Forest Trees

One cannot see the forest without the trees or something like that.

The Columbia Cascade and Western club models a proto-freelance line between Albany and Bend Oregon over Santiam pass through the Deschutes National Forest. The club layout was featured in issue #36, February 2013, of Model Railroad Hobbyist.

DPM N Scale Grout Line Painting Test

I am looking for an alternative method of painting grout/cement joint lines on brick walls. This is a 1st try on a extra wall piece.

I used a light grey craft paint, spreading it on with a brush and wiped it off with a paint rag picked up at Lowes. It is not a wash cloth texture. Clear spots are from where I pushed down with my finger. I need a bit of a lighter touch.

Anyway looking for good, bad or ok job and or whatever comments you care to make.

Thanks, Jack

Ground cover

Hi everyone,

I'm new to your forum and I'm new to modeling. I've been reading posts about applying static grass and several people mentioned applying ground foam first. What is ground foam? Is there another name for It? I tried searching Amazon for ground foam and got nowhere. I'm more into creating dioramas than model trains, but I thought this was a good place to start. I've watched a lot of YouTube videos on model building, but I haven't found much geared toward the beginners. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Ways I cut cost on scenery materials

Hey Everyone!  Hope you all are doing well.

I've been doing some scenery on my Free-Mo/Model Display module and I've picked up a couple of ways that I can save money on materials!  I've put the tips together in a short video that displays the techniques on how I saved money and made some really good looking scenery.  Check out the video below and let me know what you think!

Have a great weekend!

Andy
