Layout design
Mascoutin Valley Railroad - Its a simple kind of plan
I was putzing around this evening and took my track plan and put in a digital format! It follows my system map pretty close. Ore Trains will flow from Iron Mountain, MI to Barnaby Mine and back, and other traffic will flow from staging in Crandon, WI to Iron Mountain, MI or run a turn job at the mill in Florence.
The aisle ways range from 36 to 48 inches. And the layout is designed to tie into Free-Mo Modules!
SNE - Foam Core is down
I have now laid out all of the foam core. It all fits very nicely and very tightly. It is 80mm high to accommodate the DCC Concepts point motors.
The Little Rock Line in N scale.
Greetings all. Been lurking for a few years, decided it was time to join in.
I started my layout design years ago but didn't get around to building until 2008. It's a Proto-Freelanced design based on Rock Island's section of line from Little Rock, AR south to Alexandria, LA. Subdivision 38 & 39 of their Southern Division. In my history books The Rock avoided the final shutdown and continues to operate. The current date is Spring-Summer of 1983. It was designed for Ops and as of the present is fully operational.
Montana prototype/freelance - N Scale
Hi all
Well with some great feedback I'm starting my new layout, bench work has begun and I am taking a module approach to this build, not the kind that can be changed around like FreeMo but just so I can take a section and build it on the bench, you could say TOMA inspired but I started planning this long before I saw that.

Feedback on Track design - operational prototype/freelance
Hi all
I have been drawing so many plans lately that I'm starting to go round in circles (no pun intended)
So looking for a bit of feedback on the below designs, N scale, Montana modern era, was very prototypical in version 1 but now its a lot more freelance
Industries will be: Coal, Fuel/oil, grain, Timber, sugar beets, and maybe a bit of produce and maybe others.
tell me what you think or would change
The bottom one has slot track but that is just road.

A simple manual turntable Part 2. How and who operated it?
The turntable works flawlessly and this post will be about detailing the pit and bridge, and the lessons learned.
Southern Slate Fork Branch
Appeal to Paul Schmidt: do you have a blog with photos of your Slate Fork layout? How about a track plan? Curious Appalachian Coal Hauler addicted model railroader would like to know.
