Layout design
Which way do I go?
My design is a double main. The industry in question of on the eastward. Im trying to stay true to the prototype as much as possible. So here is the problem. The turnout is on the east side of the industry with a long lead that balloons back to the industry. I dont have the room to set the industry back that far. The diagram shows the correct orientation for the industry, but the turnout is on the wrong side. The track chart does show a nearby industry with an opposite side turnout. So not all turnouts face the same way.
Layout design
I’m in the preliminary stages of designing my layout and need some assistance. I want a bi-level layout using the mushroom concept on the island portion of the layout and I want to incorporate all of the layout into the TOMA concept. Below is a basic drawing of my layout space which is a section of an unfinished basement. The layout area will be 23 feet square with a 5’ X 10’ bump out in the NE corner that will house the helix. The basic layout shape will be a backward E.
Wilm Marine Terminal
The Wilmington Marine Terminal wharf is making progress. The walls are a design based on pictures of P&R wharves in the Pt Richmond area (just up the Delaware river about 50 miles at Philadelphia) and its decked with wood planks. Two steel slugs hold the bulwark against the benchwork.
I also have been working on the float bridge, adding two housings for the lift machinery, recycled from a New River Mine conveyor and pieces trimmed from a steel mill building. The bridge sits on a foundation of a lath core with wood dowel pilings.
Railserve Beverage Bottling Facility, Update #6
Another short 2 weeks home before the holidays went by too fast. I took some time re-letter, safety stripe and weather some corn syrup cars. With all of the supplies out I continued onto some structures.

Full Size Paper Templates of Trackplan
To begin with I am not a computer geek who has ever learned how to manipulate computer track plan softwares. And to tell the truth I never thought it was an idea worthy of extensive study to learn just to singularly design my new layout. I really thought (hoped) that someone would come along and do that computer designing/visualizing for me,....someone who enjoyed doing that sort of thing.
Mini and Micro LDE's on my layout
I use LDE's on my layout, but in a different way. You can read about this here.

Layout idea: "New Alton Shops"
For years I've learned so much from the members of MRH forum through lurking – reading others' questions and the collective wisdom of the MRH. I'm thinking it's time I put my layout design sketch out here for some input and feedback.
