Help with n switching yard
Hi everyone, another newbe here. Im in the process of building an N scale layout in 4 modules. The module for the
switching/yard is 1ft by 3ft. Is this possible in this small area and still be functional? I am having a hard time designing
it. Thanks for your help.

Landmark Layouts
Guys,
I've often wondered.
Which three model railroad layouts do you consider the most outstanding of the modern era and why? It was quite hard to pick but here are my three, in no particular order:
New England Berkshire and Western - RPI
Tehachapi - SDMRM
Batavia Model Railroad Club - Batavia, Ill. (Now Gone)
JL&T Railway Blog - Control Panels
Hi All,
Well over the last week I have been getting into another new project for the JL&T. I have purchased our first set of Tortoise Motors for the installation on the mainline.
After seeing the various threads regarding Control Panels, I really liked the idea of having a simple card stock panel laminated with the switches and LED's installed through it.

I wonder who will clean the track once it is finished?
Double Deck Spacing
For those of you who have double or triple deck layouts, what is the suggested spacing between decks. I am still considering adding a top deck to my HO scale layout, but I still need to do more research!
And for those of you who have built multi deck layouts, I would love to here your comments and tips that you discovered along the way. Any advice would be most helpful!
"Shoo-fly" Free-moN Module (2'x6')
Ever since reading John Armstrong's Track Planning for Realistic Operations I've been intrigued by his drawing of a "shoofly" (page 123, 3rd ed.). It's a simple scene of track diverted over a fill while a crew repaired / rebuilt a bridge over a small stream, yet contained the possibility of multiple "stories" within the scene (not only the work on the rails, but the land just outside of railroad property: orchards, farms, roads, forests, etc.)
So I designed a 2'x6' "Shoofly" module:
The price range for LEDs for overall layout lighting
There have been several posts here and on other forums about the use of LED strips for overall layout lighting. In general those who try it seem to be having reasonable results, though some have felt it necessary to augment it with more conventional devices in some way, e.g. for spot effects. With the higher luminosity varieties (5050s), low power consumption, a low amount of waste heat and a low and easily concealed profile, LEDs offer a lot of advantages.
