Layout design

Back drop or fascia question

As a sign/shirt maker and a model railroad hobbyist. I have a question. When I built my workbench for building a sign or weeding vinyl to go on a sign or just for decals I put a sheet of 1/8" expanded PVC plastic on the top for a working surface.

How do I obtain a certian color "temperature" with RGB LED's

Playing around with RGB 5050 Led strips and I know I can change the voltage to each leg to vary the over all color.

I am either going to do this with an Arduino or for the moment just adjust the voltage to each leg to get the color I like.

My long term goal is to go from daylight to a light blue for night time ops.

What my question is:

What combination of voltages and or Arduino values for each leg to get close to 5000k - 5500k.

Thanks

New smaller layout

Just found out I don't have as much space as I thought. This is the resulting plan.

US Geological Survey

I thought I would share some tools that I'm using to design a new prototype railroad. I'm interested in modeling Denver in particular in 1959. I have traveled to Denver and lived in Denver for many years but as anybody knows the railroad's don't look the same today as they did and 59.

Why I don't RailFan on my home layout

or: Why I dislike ovals.

We all know that oval layouts suck space out of a layout room by demanding access to all sides of the layout. Yes, you can push them up against the wall but then there is the old reach issue (I'm 5' 8" - I don't reach that far).Having recently returned to the hobby after 30 years doing life (marriage, kids, teens and then their marriage) I initially fell for the oval.

Made a Decision on Operations for My Layout

I decided last year to get back into the model railroading and have spent the winter cleaning out the basement spare room and unpacking/assessing my equipment after 20 years in storage. I had a layout with completed trackwork and some scenery and have been looking it over to ascertain the needs to rewire it for DCC.

Angled backdrop?

I was thinking about the layout that I want to build, and one of the things I really want to incorporate is a proper backdrop, and ideally some horizon lights between the backdrop and the scenery.  That got me thinking, what about angling the backdrop so that the top is closer to the front than the bottom is?  It would possibly cause more of a color gradient from the horizon lights, as well as possibly reflecting more of them forward into the scene instead of illuminating the underside of the valance.

New meaning to the word "Spiral track"

Gives a whole new meaning to Spiral Helix.

I got dizzy just watching it, little nauseous to.
