New MTH Grade Crossing Gate Syestem

Hey everyone, Now that we have recoverd from the Catzilla incident, I was wondering if anyone has installed the new Grade crossing Gates from MTH. Looks simple enough. Anyone using them or has any info about them? I was thinking of getting 2 sets as i have 2 protected crossings, but as with any thing new, I like to ask the members for any input before I go out and spend close to $400.00.  Thanks Guys.

Claiborne & Polk Military Railroad built 1941

I thought I would break out a new forum on the Claiborne & Polk Military Railroad.  This railroad was built to to train soldiers who would man and operate railroads in Europe and Africa during WWII.  The construction of the line started in 1941 and completed in 1942.  Someone just might want to model this railroad.

If you have a collection of Micro-Trains Troop carriers and the recent release of the flatcars with the Army Tanks you might find this is the railroad for you.  You would also need some of the Micro-Train military base wood structures.

No "tools" section?

I just noticed something.  When I went to post the video about the handheld CNC router, there is no logical place to put a thread about tools.  Given the fact that sometimes it's useful to talk about tools outside of a specific model application, maybe it would be a handy organizational tool?  I'm thinking of the CNC router, soldering station, and laser cutter threads as recent examples.

Woodland Scenics Smooth It

I mixed Woodland Scenics Smooth It as the instructions recommended. I then poured the mixture into a number of areas defined with the recommended tape.

The results were not good. The mixture was thicker than cake batter. Did not flow at all. None of the areas are completely filled and certainly not level.

Now I have to mix more and topcoat it. Does anyone have any suggestions based on their experience they can share.

It has been reported on a Yahoo group that Wolfgang Dudler has passed away. I can't verify this personally.

He was an MRH author and I admired his work.

Okay, it is 1020 Central Time on a Sunday and still no WPF, or did I miss something??

Maybe Driline is seeing if someone else will start it this weekend, or what is left of the weekend...

So post them if you got em'  new projects old projects, ideas dreams, etc. etc.

Fiddletown & Copperopolis, my new book.

My new hardbound copy of the Fiddletown & Copperopolis came today. This is a 1960 edition by Carl Fallberg. What an interesting old book! The subtitle is "The Life & Times of an Uncommon Carrier." I don't know how many of you have seen this book. It is a series of single page cartoons about a mountain railroad. If you get a chance to borrow or buy a copy I recommend it. I snagged my copy off of eBay.

cannot get any sound or movement out of this loco when  controler is even turned all the way up. tried other locos work fine. please help any advice.
