The Operations Race - what to do? I have an answer,
In my other post I posed the question on what to do if you / me don't like "Racetrain Operations". As I thought about it the answer became obvious - do what Lance Mindheim does- on your own layout operate at whatever speed you want! Duh! In my case I presently don't have a layout; however, as a member of the Central Florida Railroad Modelers I have access 24/7 to the layout so I can go in and do a little mini ops session at my own pace.
Please help get started
Hi, my name is Bob and found this interesting site where I hope someone can give advice. I'm looking to get started in building an 8'x4' layout with possible future expansion. Recently my father died and I went back to the house to take my old HO trains from the house, I had a layout when I was a child back in the 70's. This spurred my interest again.

Recent Pictures of My Layout
Included with these pictures of my CNY&NE Railroad is a night shot of Maywood station. My HO freelanced railroad includes many of the lines in the Maybrook, NY area from the 1955 era.

The Operations Race - what to do?
******* NOTE - the following is one man's opinion (mine) and for discussion purposes only - not to say there is a right or wrong way******
I'm a big fan of Lance Mindheim especially on his ideas on realistic operations and have his book "How To Operate A Modern Era Switching Layout" among others. Lance describes many techniques to slow down the operations process including "walk time" for conductors / brakemen, "3 Step", brake tests, opening / closing gates, and many others.

Problems with Lenz 3.6 upgrade and NCE ATLS4 and TTX-RS2 Decoders
I upgraded my LENZ set 100 system to 3.6. My engines worked fine before I sent the system out to be upgraded. All my engines worked fine after except a group with NCE decoders ATLS4 and TTX-RS2 ( KRS-SR) in them. I have tried to reprogram them and changing their address , reset to default and I get one of two thing. Nothing happens or in a couple of the engines , after putting in a new address and putting it on the main track it goes at full speed with no control. Even using the stop will not shut it down.
Any ideas??

Search engine working?
Is the search feature not working on this site? I'm using an Ipad and just tried searching for "Bachmann" (with and without quotes) and got nothing. As a matter of fact I can't get any results for any search word. Any ideas?

2013 Local Spring Train Show in southern New Hampshire
F.Y.I. for nearby New England Model Railroaders:
The Hooksett, NH Lions Club is hosting their 18th Annual April Train Show on the 21st, from 10 am to 3 pm, at the Hooksett Cawley School, on Route 27, approx. 3/4 mile east of Route 3 [ look for show sign ]. Our old HO modular club helped local Lions set up their first ever show, 18 years ago, so always try to attend. And it's real fun for all ages. Always bring my grandson [ he's now 12 ] and we enjoy ourselves for the day.

First impressions - Model Railroader Video Plus
I was one of the people that subscribed to MR Video Plus for $25.00 to give it a try. Today (a few minutes ago) was my first use of the product. I tried accessing the link using Google Chrome(tm) and after connecting to the site (from the link they supplied in an email to me) the page displayed initially and then became non responsive. I then tried Firefox with the same link and was able to access and run the videos.
