MRH Website general discussion

Glitch in posting...has this happened to you?
I went to reply to a question about grout. After I wrote out a lengthy post I was cleaning up some errors, when I hit the backspace key the answer disappeared and I was back at the original post. I redid my answer and the same thing happened when I hit backspace to erase a letter!!! I type pretty slow so this is a big deal for me to do it 3 times!!!
Any thoughts?????

Thunder and lightening
I am adding a short branch to formerly unused corner real estate. The spur will serve a mine. (Named "Seven", for the number of height-challenged miners who toil there.)
The area is only about 2' x3'. It is in a little alcove, and has a gloomy feel to me. I intend the sky color, clouds and general tone to reflect this. Now I wonder if an occasional thunderstorm would not fit in too. Short scenarios of dimming overall lighting, thunder rumbling, lightning (strobes) flashing, then the sound of heavy rain. Then rain tapers off, and lights come back up.

Glue accessories?
When speaking of accessories I am referring to vehicles. Do you glue your vehicles in place using something like the Woodland Scenic Accent Glue? This is a tacky adhesive and is not a permanent glue.
I can see when it some to keeping the layout dust free it would be better to not have to remove anything that could be sucked up by the vacuum cleaner.
Posting to Proper Forums
[rant on]
This forum is for discussion about the MRH Website (read the title), Why does everyone post about engines, scenery, benchwork and everything but something about the website instead of going to the proper forum?

N scale Diesel repair?
If anyone repairs their N scale diesel locos, where do you find parts. I'm referring to older stock, not something listed on the Mfr's website. For example, I have an Atlas that was made in Austria, that I believe has a bad motor (it hums but won't run) . It's too old for Atlas to stock, and e-bay has none listed. So my question is where do I find one?

Cedar Creek - Modeling Water on the 8th Sub - by Rob Spangler now a downloadable PDF
Many of you have probably read Rob's great thread on this site on modeling water on the 8th Sub. I figured it was a "keeper" and created a PDF which I saved to my computer and with Rob's permission posted to my Richlawn Railroad website. If you would like a copy that you can download click on the link below and then right click where indicated to save the PDF to your computer.
A special thanks to Rob for sharing his excellent work and for giving permission to download the PDF.

Billboard Cars
I was perusing the LDSIG Wiki tonight and chanced on a page on the timeline for significant changes in freight cars. I was surprised to note that "billboard" cars were banned after 1938. I knew we never see them now, but had just thought they were a passing fad. A ban seems capricious as I fail to see how their use could have any negative effect on railroad operation or safety. Does anyone know the rationale for the ban?

Retention pond with overflow pipe now available as a downloadable PDF
Some while ago I did a blog entry on this website showing how I did a retention pond with a overflow pipe. It's not a new posting; however I've included a link below to my website below to a PDF that you can read or download. I got the idea from making a PDF of Rob Spangler's excellent thread on his water feature here on MRH. I'm thinking about "publishing" more of my how-to's if there's interest.
