Changing Personal Account Avatar
I wanted to change the avatar photo for my personal account and have had no success in doing so. In account edit I check the box to delete current photo and save. Poof. Photo is gone. Check a recent reply to a posting and no associated photo is shown there either. Go back to account, upload "new" photo - save - and the original photo pops up as if it is the default and it's either this or nothing at all. The new photo choice falls within the size guidelines for avatars of 85 x 85 x 100kB.

Install a Reed Switch in a ScaleTrains reefer container w/ sound
The ScaleTrains reefer containers with sound are very nice units. Here is how I improved a little on the design by installing a magnetic reed switch inside the unit so that you don't have to pick up the unit from the train to turn it on or off.

Completely new to sound decoders - need advice
Hello! I have finally decided to enter the world of sound, but I need a little basic help and opinion. I am stuck choosing between Soundtrax, TCS, and ESU for some 1st and 2nd gen EMD HO locos. I've heard a lot of great things about Lok Sound Full Throttle, and it obviously sounds great, but I'm not totally convinced that this is the right option.
Here's my basic criteria:
- Easy to program with just a Power Cab
- Has plenty of options for lighting
- Easy to install
Modern Grain Elevator Operations
I have several grain elevators on my layout which will both load and unload 100 ton covered grain hoppers during the operating session. I need some assistance in determining how much time to allow per covered hopper for unloading and how much time for loading.
Rustoleum camo paint vs Krylon camo paint
I recently picked up some Rustoleum Camo paint (tan, brown and black) and started thinking about the differences between the Rustoleum and the Krylon paint. Does anyone have experience using both products?
How does Rustoleum camo compare to Krylon camo? Is one preferable to the other, and if so, why?

Is there a tool or simple way to download an entire MRH blog?
Is there a tool or some simple method for downloading the entire contents of a MRH blog? There are a few of them I'd like to keep in a binder of hard copies (sorry, but I don't have a tablet or smart phone to use nor the visual acuity for really small print). I'm not fond of the idea of trying to do it page-by-page if that can be avoided. Sorry if this post is a repeat of some conversation somewhere (especially so if I posted on the topic and have forgotten...).
Any way to keep certain posts as favorites?
I was looking and maybe there is a way, if so I can't find it. A save or favorite button tied to your account so returning to a particular post you would like to follow in the future or refer back to at a latter date?
MRH policy change on back issues
We're making a slight policy change on MRH back issues: you have to be a subscriber to access.
Getting subscribers is a huge plus for us since the larger the number the easier it is for us to get advertisers. So more subscribers = more advertisers = more secure future for your favorite forever free model railroading magazine.
This means we're making a few things like back issues a subscriber-only benefit. Since subscribing is free, we don't see that as too much to ask.
Unlimited back issue access is one more big benefit to subscribing.
MRH Acrylic Painting Guide
Is there any place that describes the process used for matching colors in the Painting Guide? (Apologies if I've missed it somewhere along the way.)
Back in the pre-prototype color days, Floquil produced a color labeled Diesel Light Blue. That color was chosen for my engines and passenger cars. Since then, despite the attempts of myself and a couple of others, that color was never quite matched. (Those attempts were made before modern color-matching machines were invented.)
