MRH Website general discussion

Problem with Media
If I upload a jpg media item to a thread and size it at 750 width when the actual is 1600, if you hover over the item in the completed post, you can select it with the hand symbol and if clicked will open in larger size and the icon will show a "+" sign and can magnify it even more.
If I select an image from the library of images, size it to 750 width when actual is 1600, if you hover over the item, the cursor remains an arrow and it will not allow the select or magnification.
Am I doing something wrong, or is this just how the site works???

Mike Confalone - Allagash Railway weathered freight cars on EBAY
A quick note for anyone interested. I am going to be selling weathered freight cars on EBAY. Some of these will be Allagash Railway rolling stock, and others will be in any number of roadnames. Any cars listed are hand-weathered by me, using many of the techniques discussed in my freight car weathering video series produced by MRH a few years ago. If there is some success, I will be doing this on a weekly basis. I have more than enough cars to run the railroad, so some of these will hopefully find a happy home somewhere else!
Permission to post this granted by MRH.
Getting younger people into the hobby.
I attend shows but not as often as I should. Fathers bringing children who just love model trains. I am sure very few children are active in the layout process. I allowed 2 children to help with 2 layouts. N Scale. They build 2 end table layouts based on their personal taste. I gave them the layouts as gifts. Later I began building very small layouts and giving them to parents to give to their child as Christmas gifts. ALL of these kids spend time now researching model trains and how-to videos.
Having Fun Operating - Switching Bradford, VT on the Boston & Maine
Some of you may remember an article I put together for MRH back in the May 2017 issue regarding "Getting to the Fun Part", Modeling, Bradford, VT. The article was based on scenery construction in a semi-prototype town of Bradford, VT on the Boston & Maine's Connecticut River Line. The town itself has been finished for a few years and I've had a lot of fun operating and switching it.

Let's get this week's photos started!

Minor Rant from an Old Curmudgeon.
I am annoyed by the tendency to have blogs and topics that consist entirely of a link or links to other sites or forums or personal blogs or youtube. Perhaps it is my own need for instant gratification when pursuing topics in which I am interested (a behavior often attributed to those half or less my age). I belong to other forums and would never think of linking to my entries there and have sometimes copied and pasted the same information here if relevant to a topic or to my blog.
Wolrds Greatest Hobby on Tour Train Show
I went to their train show this weekend, Their flyer said (FREE PARKING!) Only to find out parking was $10.00, Not a great way to promote the hobby, I wouldn't mind the parking fee if there venders were offering great price's, But that wasn't the case, Good thing ebay and my local hobby shop has free parking, As well no insane crowds to deal with. :-)

RPI — NEB&W layout may be in trouble -- UPDATE!
Message forwarded from John Nehrich
The RPI club layout is one of the finest layouts in America. I hope this goes well
and doesn't become a tragedy. I've operated regularly on the layout for several years
