Renumbering a Bachmann covered hopper...

I'm going to need to renumber several of the Bachmann Monsanto covered hoppers in HO. I'd like to just change the last number or two of the original reporting marks. Anybody know of a source for matching numbers, and the easiest way to do this?

thanks!

Randy

Sound decoder for Bachmann

Hello all. Looking for some guideance. Needing a sound decoder for a Bachmann GP40. I checked Digitrax and they don't list one. I checked Soundtrax but they don't tell you want decoders work in what units. Anyone installed a sound decoder in a Bachmann GP40?

Tier 4 Engines

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, since I'm kind of new here, but I was wondering if anyone knew whether or not it would be possible to upgrade a standard EMD 645 to tier 4 standards. I am planning a freelanced modern shortline running rebuilt EMD power. One of my options is swapping all prime movers for new Cummins units that meet tier 4 regulations as part of my storyline. This presents a problem however when it comes to selecting a decoder for sound.

BNSF 487379

I recently photographed this car in a BNSF train at Monolith, CA. Could someone please tell me if this is a one off paint scheme? I see Athearn makes a model of the car but there numbering series does not match. Any information appreciated.

Thank you

Scratchbuilt 62' Bulkhead Flatcar

Quite a few years back I built this 62' bulkhead flat for my fictional Pilar Valley Railway. I just finally made it around to finishing the car and weathering it.

The car is made out of Evergreen Styrene. The main support beam under the car is filled with BB shot for weight. The piping under the car is brass rod and the tank and valves are Detail Associates along with the break wheel. The trucks and wheels are Atlas 100ton roller bearing. The coupler platforms are from Plano Models.

weathered my first car

well , i have been researchng various techniques, watching videos, reading books etc. thought i would finaly give it a go. i hand painted the graffiti and used dr. bens realistic rust. i have to hone my skill using the brush techniques. i will probably add some dusting of various chalks and matte over it.

Diesel notching and loco speed control

I know there are some folks on this forum that operate real diesel electric locos.  I am puzzled by exactly how the speed of a diesel electric loco pulling a train is controlled and I haven't been able to find any information to clear up my confusion.

HO brass CANADIAN NATIONAL STEAM LOCOMOTIVE CAB NUMBERS UPDATE

Does anyone have experience with applying HO scale brass numbers to Steam Loco cabs? I have two brass locos and a CNR NW2 that I would like to apply them to. The numbers on the NW2 goes on the front below the grill. I was wondering if I could use the existing decals on the steam locos and just apply the brass numbers over them. I have no dea if this is possible; gluing to a decal.

Decal setting solution

Does anyone have a formula for home-brewed decal setting solution? Something like Walthers Solvaset or Microscale's Micro-Sol.  I would like to be able to vary the strength and save a few pennies here and there.
