Train Masters Weathering Tutorials and my results

I used the weathering methods illustrated and explained by Gary Christensen and Mike Confalone in the Train Masters Videos and I now have weathered 2 box cars (no airbrush).  This is my second attempt. I bought a half dozen inexpensive freight cars off Ebay to practice on before trying to weather my nice stuff.  I certainly have room for improvement, but I am encouraged with the results so far.  I would like to give a big thanks to MRH, Gary and Mike for sharing their knowledge!

Source of PRR backheads, printed or brass?

Anyone know of 3D printed backheads for PRR steamers?  Or brass backheads?

I am preparing my steamers for DCC, replacing all of the big open-frame motors with smaller can motors.  I want to hide the blank area with new backheads.  The 8 locos are various PRR classes,0-6-0, 2-8-0, 4-6-0 up to 4-8-2.

The backheads do not have to be absolutely accurate for that class, although reasonably accurate would be nice.

Kitbashing a PS 4750 covered hopper to make a Trinity 4750 covered hopper

I want to make some models of a Trinity 4750 covered hopper with a curved roof. As far as I know no one makes a covered hopper model will a curved roof. Accurail, InterMountain and Tangent make models of the PS 4750 with a clerestory roof.

As anyone modified a PS 4750 to give it a round roof? If so did you scratch build a roof or did you modify the existing roof? Any information would be appreciated.

There are some other differences between the Trinity and the PS covered hopper but they appear relatively easy to undertake.

Scale Craft Engineering

Good morning,
Does anyone have any photos of Scale Craft Engineering HO scale models built up? These are wooden craftsman kits of semi modern rail cars. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Coupler height wrong N scale Loco

Hey everyone.  I was messing around with the layout last night and I went to hook up a couple of cars when I noticed on one of my locos that the coupler height was too high to hook up with rolling stock.  Never noticed this before.  Is there a way to lower it so that it will engage like it is supposed to.

N-Scale steam locomotive with bouncing front end.

I am having trouble with a new Bachman N-Scale 2-6-0 locomotive. The front end bounces up and down synchronized with the drivers. Not a very loco-like behavior.

Is this something that will fade with break in, be user repaired, or need to be RMA?

Please see the attached video. The bounce is most evident once the loco gets past the bridge.

Thanks!

garage sale finds

So, a local group who aren't a club had a garage sale last Saturday and I picked up a few things. Among these are these two locos from a spares box:

Bq23-7

So I wanna know what yall think the odds are that a manufacturer might come out with a HO scale bq23-7. I know Bachmann made one in the 80's but, I think it'd be interesting if a company could make a retooled and more detailed production run of this unit. What are y'alls thoughts.

Tender Oil Conversion

I had a hard time finding usable photos of an oil tender when I was trying to convert my Bachmann mogul. One day my wife and I took a drive into Arkansas and ended up in Eureka Springs. Lo and behold, they had a mogul in the yard with an oil tender. I got the kind of excited that makes my wife visibly uncomfortable.

Weathering

I am working on weathering some of my wooden boxcars. I model in the 1940's, so almost all of my cars are made of wood, (simulated wood actually), but some are made of strip wood, which makes weathering a little easier.

I have been following Gary Christensen's videos on Trainmasters TV, and although they weather metal sided cars, I have been experimenting with his techniques.
