Locos and rolling stock

Do I have a bad motor?

Hi All,   I've got a Genesis F7 (yellow box) that has an intermittent problem.  I get no movment. Everythign else works, lights, sounds, loco sound notches up and down as I change the speed, but the the motor itself it not moving.  I've checked the wiring a few times and everything is connected properly.  I've opened up the trucks and don't see anything in the gears that would prevent movement.

Athearn Blue box frame

When I bought this about two years ago it was an abortion, a Bachmann BQ23-7 shell on this frame #38018. Any ideas as to which Athearn shell is supposed to be on this frame number? It doesn't match any of the other frames I have. Divided fuel tank, high mounted brake cylinders, Air tanks in front of fuel tanks, just below front fly wheel.

Scales out at 58' long. coupler mount to coupler mount.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Machinist needed... Trying to weight down old LBF coalporter

So,

I have thought a lot about this... I was going to add a leaded center sill down the middle of the coalporter in between the tubs, but why stop there? There is more room for nicely concealed weight in the slope sheets inside the hopper. Trying to figure this out, I realized someone who could either write the CNC program or actually machine a lead mold for the area between the slope and the tubs of the car would allow a modeler an opportunity to place probably 2 or 2 1/2 ounces of lead in an "empty car" and still have it look like it should.

Atlas/Athearn BB Repowering

First off, Happy New Year to all.

I have been perusing MRH, A-Line/PPW, and NWSL sites for cross reference guides on what replacement motors work best in the older 1970/1980 Atlas and Athearn BB locos.

What combo of motor and flywheels have worked for you?   In particular I have a series of Atlas/Roco Yellow Box GP and SD units where the motors are simply worn out.   No amount of tinkering in JMRI with speed tables or pulse width modulation will get them to run quietly and at low speeds.

Need Help Identifying These

I am trying to identify this little guy, which would have been used in the early to middle 20th century to haul water to/from a water bottling plant.

Atlas?

I've been sitting on an order for about 3/4's of a Year now from Atlas. It's a Trainman GP38-2..what would be my first DCC locomotive. I already have the NCE Powercab wired up and ready to go but still running my DC locomotives with an old Model Power DC pack and a toggle from DCC to DC.

Here is Atlas's cheap looking web page for Container deliveries: http://www.atlastrainman.com/tmordership.htm

Prototype info on Accurail car

We're looking to see if anyone has assembled prototype info on Accurail's 36' double-sheathed wood box car?

What can you tell us?

What color is used inside engine cabs?

Happy New Year fellow model railroaders!

Looking at old phots is seems that Santa Fe, and maybe other railroads, used a green color inside their engine cabs.
Can anyone tell me what paint, or mix of paint, I could use on my models?
Preferable Vallejo paints.

As a side note, does anyone know why the green color is so often used inside the engine cabs?

Weathering Steam Locomotives With Dry Mediums?

I have two nice and shiny Broadway Limited Pennsy H10 Consolidations.  I have had pretty good luck with freight cars using powders and Pan Pastels.   But I have really butchered some boxcars moving on to wet mediums like oil or washes.  I am really nervous tackling +$350 locomotives.  Can anyone give weathering advice using dry mediums.   I am not into grunge or heavy weathering.  But do need to take into account territory where Pennsy ran, wet weather and smoke.
