I finally found someone willing to produce some etched parts for the old Railpower SD80/90s. My guess is that since the prototype was a failure, Athearn is not planning on making a Genesis unit out of the old Railpower shell. There was a guy in Germany who made the following parts, but I can't get him to make any. So, I am curious how many people out there would be interested in a set of these things?

I will post all the pics in the second post.

So sorry for posting on this, because I am sure it will be full of opinions... I saw something done by Verne Niner that looked really good, but I didn't really want to reopen that thread for obvious reasons.

I was digging through an old box of parts and found some Detail Associates radial trucks. The package said it was for EMD SD-60s and 70s. That really piqued my interest because I did not know that SD-60s had radial trucks.

Well, look what I found...

Obviously, it's an old demonstrator. Did any railroads ever buy the SD-60 with the radial trucks or is this one of the few?

Bachmann RF-16 decoder replacement

I'm looking for recommendations on decoders to replace the noisy stock decoders that are in my two Bachmann RF-16 Sharks. I'm not interested in adding sound to these engines. I'd just like them to run smooth and quiet.

Has anyone converted a Bachmann HO 2-truck Climax to an oil burner or know of a link to any discussion of how they may have gone about this? As far as I can tell the latest iteration of this loco doesn't include parts to do this.

I am fairly new to HO and recently ordered a couple relatively inexpensive Bachmann locomotives. I have a two other locomotives, both w/ DCC sound, and both run pretty smoothly. These two, however, have me wondering if they are bad eggs.

The first is the 2-8-0 Consolidation, DCC (no sound). I have to turn the throttle up a good bit before it lurches forward, and then while rolling at slow to moderate speeds it stutters badly repeatedly, at the same point in the rotation of the drivers. The motor also hums quite a bit before it starts moving.

i have an engine that has been weathered and decaled.I would like to patch out the decal and reletter. do i clean the area with alchol to get the weathering off then spray that area with glosscote put the new decals on dry then spray dull cote?
