mehano camelback repair

how to disassemble ihc- mehano 2-6-0 mother Hubbard camelback loco without destroying it.what I found so far the rear end slides out and has tabs .cab has two screws and the front I'm not sure about it .all I found so far there's a screw that hold  the pilot wheels  and unscrewed and still couldn't remove  the front of it I believe I'm missing something here. I'm replacing motor and installing dcc. this loco is new and never been ran

Adding doors to HO GP9

I'm currently constructing a scaled-down version of Union Pacific's diesel service facility opened in Salt Lake City in 1955.  The interior will be detailed and include an EMD GP9 being serviced (using a "blue box" dummy unit, Walthers 567 prime mover, and Cannon Company doors).  My hope is to carefully cut away the existing doors on one side of the shell then install the Cannon Company doors in their open positions so the prime mover is visible.

Rubber Band Drives

I've been doing a bit of research on alternative motor-axle drive systems to utilize on a 'disguised pusher' to help power up our steam engines that have been trying mightily to do it all on individual selfs.

A few days ago I ran across a few references, including this very convincing video,..

Bachman 44 and 70 ton engines

I'm hoping some of the more involved loco "tinkerers" here who are crafty and like to repower or swap shells/frames of one manufacturer between each other can help me answer this one.

Anti-skid gray on intermodal flatcars?

Does anyone have any good prototype photos of anti-skid gray paint used on Trailer Train & TTX intermodal equipment?  Model manufactures' colors for anti-skid material range wildly and in most of the photos I've found from the usual internet sources the material is worn off.  So I'm looking for prototype photos of relatively new anti-skid gray for future projects.  Thanks in advance.

Walthers NW2 Phase V - anyone have one?

I see that Walthers is doing another run of its NW2. Since they are doing my prototype (C&O) this time, I was thinking of pre-ordering one or two. Does anyone have one from a prior run that they'd like to report on as far as running quality and the details?

I guess there's a BLI model out there too, but apparently not in my road and now discontinued.

can I get a PDF of the Athearn RTR SD38, and 38-2 loco parts diagram,

thank you,

as a side.

Why is this so top secret?  I know Hoseekers has SOME. but not all.

but why can't Athearn and Proto/Walthers just have a section of parts or for that matter . instruction sheets.. They get lost in packing and buying used.  Would it cost that much to have a office guy copy them and post on the web site..

thanks, back to model railroading.

Improving Our Steam Engines Performance

Improving Our Steam Engines Performance

I'll admit right up front, I am a hopeless steam engine fan. And the last 10-20 years has seen some really marvelously detailed plastic steamers that often rival the brass ones. And those plastic ones run better (smoother, better electrical pick-up, etc, etc) than many of the brass ones.

BLI Paragon decoder replacement issues 2-8-2 static

Hello - I replaced the factory decoder in a BLI Paragon/2 2-8-2 with a LokSound V5 programmable decoder. I programmed the engine and it runs superbly (my experience with all LokSound decoders). The problem is there is static when the motor is activated. I believe this is caused by interference within the motor, which I don't want to bother replacing. I can't return the engine at this point nor would I get anything on ebay (I tried). All my engines have LokSound so I'm not entirely thrilled with going a different route. Thoughts/Options?
