State Tool & Die
A positive note about State Tool and Die. I placed an order for four C&O caboose conversion kits this past Sunday. Today (Wednesday), the little parcel showed up at my mailbox, thought that was pretty fast service.
The conversion kits consist of two plastic sprues holding the parts and wire. There was no flash and all the molding is clean and neat. My plans to modify a caboose or two look to be fairly simple using these parts.
Weathering an out of the paint shop Mikado
This Mikado has had its tender and cab repainted; the cab so new brass numerals could be applied, and the tender to have the herald placed correctly.

PROTO GP 9
I just bought anew Proto (Walthers) GP9 It is a DC unit so want to install sound The included instructions say to refer to removing the body.. I see nothing like that on the instruction sheet. So I called Walthers for help. GOOD LUCK WITH THAT THE RECORDED REPONSE WAS THEY WOULD GET BACK TO MEI N 4-5 DAYS
Trying to identify a detail product, but also the name for the detail
So, I have a bit of a science project on my work bench (and before anyone just tells me to buy the New Athearn Genesis, or a Proto2K on ebay, the goal here is to do the project, that's where the fun lies. Purchasing one is not the answer, I will hand slap anyone who suggests it.
Anyway, I have a pair of AHM GP18s on the work bench. I'm planning to do some bare minimum Visual upgrades to them including pilot/steps, Fans and handrailings and potentially grabs. My goal is to keep my detailing costs to around $20 give or take.
Need Help - 2 Unidentified Brass Trains
Hello, my grandfather passed away and I'm trying to sort through his model train collection. I can't seem to identify these two trains in the provided pictures. Both look to be brass locomotives. I have not removed from display case to look for markings but hoping someone can help without having to do so at this time. I believe these are G Gauge trains. I have identified a third as a PSC Brass Shay #15 but can't seem to find anything on these two. Thanks for your help.

What did I do?
I took these athearn trucks apart to clean and lube. Now no matter how I put them together the contacts end up on the same side. What am I missing?
Prototypes for Roundhouse tank cars?
Athearn/Roundhouse has some new single- and triple-dome tank cars. I can't seem to find out what their prototypes are. Anyone got pointers to that info?
Yard sale score
I picked these up at a yard sale today for 8 bucks.I needed the engine and booster for a complete set.
