Sanded grout
Here are some photos of sanded grout used my turntable area. It is not finished as the Engine house needs to be finished and permanently added and some areas need to be "touched up". It couldn't have been simpler to put down. I spread it dry with a fan and bushy round brush to get it where I wanted. I gave it a light spray with wet water and waited a few minutes for this to spread and make the area damp, then I really soaked it just until you can see it shiny with water-no more than that or it might run. Wait for it to dry. I run a
Free paint Saturday from ACE
This Saturday, 3/24/12, (only) Ace Hardware is giving away a free quart of paint. You can use this link (not mine)to print the coupon https://www.facebook.com/acehardware?sk=app_197581477006571 or use a search engine to get another. A great opportunity to try a fascia color out, maybe do some nice sky wok or mix it 1:1 with water and get good base for some ground work.

Ballast
Hello!
Hope there is somebody who can help. I wonder what ballast (color, maybe producer and item #) should I use for my layout (The Milwaukee Road) that represents yard in Wausau Wisconsin and for the main line, and for the other part of the layout that represents north part of Washington state. I checked at Google, but I'm not sure.
Thank you very much,

here is your prototype!.

Garden Fn3 bridge plans
I'm working on my Master Builder Structures NMRA AP. I need two scratch built structures to finish it up. Linda (my wife) pointed out that I need a couple of bridges on the RMP, which is an Fn3 (1:20.3) garden layout, so why not build some?
Last weekend I built a small wood bridge in HO from 1:1 scale plans - just cut the wood to length, as shown on the plan and glue together. I could scale those plans up 4.29 times (87.1 / 20.3). However, I'm looking to see if you MRH folks have some already together?

Ballast color suggestion
Hey guys,
I've been trying to figure out the mainline and siding colors for the majority of the Southern California railroads, and it appears that light gray would work for the mainline. I'm looking at the Scenic Express light gray #40 and #50, but this also leaves the siding colors in question. I can see that a majority of sidings are usually a different color than the mainline, but can I assume that sometimes the mainline and siding are the same color?
The major questions at hand are:

Piano Wire
I'm about to start working on "scratchbuilding" an HO chain link fence and am deciding between using .025" piano wire or styrene tube for the posts. I'll be using the scale scenics mesh for the fence itself but have never used piano wire before.
Can I ask for any tips/advice on working with piano wire? It looks like I could bend the stuff a bunch cutting down on my cuts but I would be interested in advice form experienced users.
A couple of new buildings
Hello everyone.
I thought I'd post a few pics of a couple of HO scale Branchline house kits I am building for a friend. The first one is the Drayton house.

Rural Drawbridge prototype
I've spent the last two days riding Amtrak #11 from Seattle, WA to Southern California, CA. And, of course, my face was glued to the window most of the time; camera and notepad in hands.
In central Oregon I spotted the perfect prototype for a drawbridge to fit a non-industrial or rural setting. I would love to build it, even though it won't fit my layout. So, I'm hoping that someone on this forum might have some detailed info on it.
Dwarf Signal
I have designed and produced a O scale, scale-sized (1/48) B&O CPL dwarf signal, built from the plans of the General Railway Signal Type VA dwarf. Here's a picture of the painted signal:
