New Eastbrook N-scale modules

This year I started with three N-scale modules which should represent an industrial area along a NYC mainline.

Gloor Craft #406 coaling tower - modification?

I recently acquired one of these fine old craftsman kits.  It appears to be designed to have the service track dump coal under the tower, and has two chutes on a track beside the tower.   I would like to put one chute under the tower, and have the coal dump and sand service track outside the elevator  -  something like these two rough diagrams:

Backdrop

I recently purchased a custom backdrop from Backdrop Junction (MRH advertiser) Because my layout is built to allow moving I wanted the backdrop to be moveable as well. I could not attach it to the wall or other backing surface and have it moveable.

The long hanging support is laminated of two layers of 1/8” plywood 3 inches by 12 feet. The backdrop is 24” by 12‘ printed on matte paper

The pictures should show the method.

Water and water falls

I am finally able to get back to work on the railroad and am ready to create a water fall and stream. What products would you recommend? There seems to be a lot of different products available,  but little information on them.

Thanks so much!!

Layout complete - working on cars

Layout just about done – might add a few slight details.  Pretty much working on weathering freight cars, etc. when time allows.

Just got back from the horseshoe curve today – got me in the train mood.

Best Static Grass Applicator?

I need to so some static grass.  What is the best performing applicator?  Are expensive commercial units better than home made?  Do you "get what you pay for"?  I don't mind paying a premium for a tool that is worth it.  But I get frustrated in trying to use a poor tool just to save a buck or 20 (or a 100).

Is the high priced Nock unit superior?

Thanks for any recommendations.

Need Details for Homemade Grass Blaster

I purchased one of the ion generators from Joe recently and now I'm gathering the rest of the materials needed to build my grass machine.

Flocking jar:  I don't use any of the products I've seen described, so I'm not familiar with their container size.  Is the container size critical to the unit?  Is there a range of diameters for the actual opening?

Power supply:  Has anyone determined what the minimum amperage of the 12v DC power supply should be (nothing came with the generator specifying that)?

Glueing Metal to Cardstock.

Hello All!!

I'm just now, going to glue Northeastern Scale Models(NSM), Corrugated Metal (HOSSMRSB) roof material, onto cardstock. But in the past, I did have a problem where the metal roof material, literally just popped right off, afte being glued well, for days! Obviously the wrong choice of the glue I used!!

Not wanting to make that mistake again, I decided I would conduct this little, totally non scientific experiment!!

Building a JL Innovative Brookside Ice House

Hello everyone

I thought I might as well share my latest project with you. I am building a JL Innovative Brookside Ice House kit. I have always liked the look of this kit from the pictures i have seen. When I got it home I realized that I don't really need an ice house. I assembled the main walls and started to think.

Talc Plant Question

Good day all,

I am working on putting down on paper my list of industries and have hit a small snag on one.  My last industry going on on my layout will be a Talc Plant.  Now aside from Center-flo and covered hoppers, would anyone know what other cars would be used at a talc load facility- I am taking the product out of the plant stage and its being shipped to factories to be used in making products

Thanks inadvance...
