Meesville

For the citizens of Meesville on my N scale modules I've scratchbuild a diner. A former PRR mikado together with a former NYC heavyweight and a small building for the kitchen makes the 20th century Diner. The hamburger is scratchbuild with Fimo clay and been baked for 30 minutes in the oven smiley The building has to be painted yet.

Diorama

I wanted to try submitting photos and thought I would share this diorama that is now installed on my layout.  I enjoyed building this as a diorama on my workbench as it gave me the opportunity to add a lot of details.

O scale rural phone/electrical poles and corn plants?

I'm in the process of designing my On30 layout and I'll be needing some telephone/electrical poles, but not the massive ones Lionel makes. I'm looking for a single crossbar smaller one like you'd find on a very rural road in the 30s and 40s. Does anyone make something like that?

Also, does anyone make corn plants in O scale? I'm looking to model a modest corn or tobacco field as the layout will take place in the summertime in East Tennessee, so either would be seen out in the sticks...

Looking for plans

I am looking for HO scale plans to scratch build a wooden rural overpass in HO scale. Anybody out there have a source for such a thing. I need to build one for my layout as well as needed for Master Builder - Structures Achievement Award.

First Kit

Good evening:

For a Christmas gift, my mother-in-law gave me a BTS Cabin Creek Series Rural Church kit. Since this my first kit it will be an interesting experience but feel I should try it since it was a gift.

So, a very newbie question. I plan on painting the structure pieces prior to assembly using Floquil Acrylic paint. I know both sides should be painted to avoid warping and then placed under a weighted object to keep flat. My question is does the paint dry quickly enough so it does not get all over the weighted object? If not, then how does that work?

looking for Container Crane

Hi,

I want to include a small intermodal port on my layout, but i havent been able to find a container crane to unload ships on port...The layout will be a modern era small n scale layout.

someone knows where i can get one?

Guy wires on a building smokestack, where do they go?

The title pretty much says it all.

A realistic photograph?

In response to your request for photographs for consideration for 'Yes, it's a model' feature, I wondered if you'd like to see the picture below of the interior of my 4mm/1ft OO gauge engine shed. [That's 1/76th scale, the most popular scale in Great Britain.]

I've been a member here for three years and I'm very impressed with the standard of U.S. modeling, and the huge range of products available to you.

I model in cardboard and paper.

Best wishes,

Looking for HO cinder block sheets

Anyone have a recommendation for HO concrete block?  Looking for some for the next scratch build and can't seem to find any.  I really don't want to spend $75 for a kit just to have some wall sections.    The only thing I can find is the Rix/Pikestuff but it's too toy like for me.

Thanks

Steve

Main line tracks ballasting inside of a tunnel

Hello,

I have a tunnel that you can see the track work inside of. In fact, you can look into the tunnel from the side for almost its entire length. My question, is how is prototype main line track ballasted inside a tunnel? Is it done exactly like main line track outside a tunnel or do they do it differently due to the rock like floor?

I have looked for pictures and have not found any. Either they show the mail line disappearing into a dark tunnel (no real detail) or its a picture inside an abandoned or converted tunnel without any tracks.
