Scenery and structures

Is a 4'x4' sheet of styrene big enough for any HO Project?
I have some 4x8 sheets of styrene of various thicknesses (.080", .060", .030" and .015") and and I have no practical place to store them. I'm tired of them leaning against the wall in my office/workshop and except for the basement there isn't a practical space to store them. I don't want to store them in the basement for a few reasons.
Making tunnel portals out of foam board - Day four
About a month ago I was asked how I build my tunnel portals and I promised to show the process when I make the next one. Well, here it comes !

Airbrushing Foliage Clusters
I recently started covering my background hills using a majority of light green colored foliage clusters. In another area of the layout I used primarily a medium green color and preferred the look when viewing with a combination of fluorescent and incandescent lighting in my basement.
I tried sprinkling on additional ground foam but this didn't look quite right to the eye.
HO Scale Highway Signs
It has been a long time, but I remember a company that made scale highway signs, they were made out of metal parts, it was a small company, this would have been 4-5 years ago at least. He even offered a special at that time that he would send a sample pack (not that I want that) and they were crisp and sturdy, and that was in N scale.

How to age corrugated siding
I have tried to search for posts on aging metal and corrugated metal using several different search strings. I guess I am not using a proper term some how, I know I have read discussions about how to do this. Any help will be appreciated.

Scenery problem using Joe's dirt method.
I did a whole mountain using Joe Fugate's dirt method and it looks fantastic, moved on to the next section and ther are issues and I wonder if they could be caused by my using old plaster or hydracal by mistake as I have containers of each on the work table (even have patch-all but I know I didn't use that by mistake). The dirt dose not want to stick well to the plaster cloth (in fact in some areas it will not stick at hardly at all and it has a mildew whitish look to parts (no, it is not mildew). Do you think the mistake was as stated or something else??????
Dirty ballast in yards
Hello everyone,
I am looking for some suggestions on how to make the ballast in yard/secondary tracks look grimy/oily/dirty as was often the case in the 60's up through even the 80's. Some places almost like the track was laid in an oil or mud pit as opposed to nice clean ballast around it, as you are use to seeing on the mainline. Attached is a photo of what I am talking about. Sonoran Desert backdrops
Hi, I am new to the MRH forums, and am really finding great information here! I wanted to share my somewhat stumbling attempts at painting backdrops for my On30 Estrella & Sonora Grande RR.
My little copper mining railroad is loosely based on prototypes located in southeastern Arizona. I have a 10' square room with a shelf round the room, and a 30" masonite backdrop wrapping around the layout (except across the entry). Below is a mining incline scene that is next to the backdrop I need to paint, just to give you a feel for the layout:
