Adhesives and backdrops

Hi Everyone;

I'm working on a new set of backdrops for our club modules. I'm looking for advice on the best adhesive for the 8x10 photos that I want to use on the Masonite I'm using as a backer.

Thanks

Yard speakers - a nice detail.

I ran across this picture today and thought that it's a neat little detail in having yard speakers (photo right).  Obviously L&N used them and I believe that Tom Patterson has some on his layout.  I plan on putting one in my loco service area on my layout.

Making a mountain from a mole hill - Mountain construction on the Richlawn RR

Another one of my "summer reruns" from my past layout.  I've got pieces / parts of the process sprinkled here and there in different threads so I though the summary in one place could be interesting.  Maybe you will find it entertaining so here's the process for the mountain on the previous Richlawn Railroad.

Screen doors

Hey Guys,

Does anyone know when Aluminum screen doors started being used.  My era is 1977, and would  like to include one on a structure I am building but would like to keep it prototypical.  Also does one know of any suppliers of one in HO scale.

Thanks

HO Walthers Roundhouse "modern" vs. "regular"

The fact that I intend to have some type of turntable on my new layout has me looking at  loco storage. I had thought I would go with some type of two stall engine house but a  roundhouse  may be in the cards. Looking at the Walthers offerings I see they have two, a roundhouse and a "modern" roundhouse. Any one know the era timeframe for each of these?  Obviously the modern roundhouse is more um...."modern" but  I wonder what time frame it would have been built vs. the other roundhouse they offer. Very curious about this.

Pacific Fruit Express adjoining buildings. what else was there?

Great article this month got me thinking about how I want to create my layout. I have an icing house and line and wondered what other buildings were beside it. Sure, the office and maybe a shack, but what else was in the yard next to the icing ramps and line? Car repair shed? What would that look like? I'm going with a southern California theme so it will have to work with that. Anyone have any ideas what to add to make the module look authentic?

Suggestions please.

Thanks.

Small diorama in progress--the very beginning

I am building a small diorama to display some of my HO scale locomotives and rolling stock as I get it built.  The base is 12” x 6” (87’ x 44’ about) and will end up a bit deeper.

(The other purpose of building this is practice with scenery.)

I used GIMP to quickly draw the buildings and platforms onto the photo of the baseplate.
