Proper curve to reverse a #4 Switch and get track 1.25 OC from the original
Hi Folks:
Wiring Best Practices
HI Folks: Im getting ready to do some more track feeders this weekend, as well as re-working a section of my staging area over the next couple weeks / months. When I started the layout I was not careful about my wire runs etc, and now have a rats nest, so I am going to be re-working all the DCC Feeders etc to make it neat and functional. I'd like input on hows best to do it, in terms of routing wires and keeping them neat. any pics you can post would be appreciated as well
Thanks

DC walkaround throttle: available in the US?
Can I buy a DC handheld walkaround throttle in the US?
They are available in the UK last I looked, presumably for the exhibition layout trade. But like everything UK, they are not cheap, especially shipped.
This is to use on 1x4 foot micro layouts.
if I have to go to EBay, who made good ones? Are there pitfalls to be aware of? I have an MRC fixed lower end throttle that works perfectly after 30+ years.
Why not DCC? There are Reasons. I have other model railroad projects that are DCC.
Thank you.

Best prototypical diamonds (track)?
I'm looking for suggestions on the most proto-accurate diamonds available. It seems like most that I've seen are in that same aesthetic category as Atlas or at best Shinohara/Peco.
But there's gotta be something out there in the Micro Engineering sort of proto-accuracy stratosphere.
"Right...?" he asked the experts, hesitantly.

Show your Command/Control Station Mounting Techniques...
I am getting a Digitrax Zephyr command station for my small layout and was wondering how to mount it. Should I use a drawer or a frame attached to the fascia? I am looking for ideas. Please show them with photos!
Here's one idea I like...

Any Roco Z21 users?
I've purchased a ROCO Z21 as I am impressed with its smart phone / tablet apps for both IOS & Android. I've seen a couple of systems in use at train shows but not much else. If you are using one, I'd appreciate your opinion of the system.
Thanks,

Help wiring a crossover inside a wye
Hi folks - I'm in the process of building Free-moN modules and a potential configuration is the one below that would have a crossover in the wye. Where would I need gaps and auto-reversers? I understand I would need one for the crossover to switch the two diagonal frogs and this can be done with a Tam Valley Frog juicer. Where else do I need a reverser and gaps in the rails to service the wye that forms.
Keep Alive
I have a very small fleet of DCC sound equiped short wheelbase HO locomotives, (GP-7, GP38-2, Alco C424).
The new layout will have a good number of turnouts, so it would be more economical to install “Keep Alive” capacitors vs. using Frog Juicers on my turnouts.
Never used “Keep Alive” or similar types of capacitors so wanted to get feedback from folks who have used these for their locomotives.

Emergency Power Off (EPO) Button
I am finishing off a room for a small layout (approx 11x15).
I asked the electrician (Sparky) to include an EPO (6 feet off of floor) that will turn off the duplex outlets used to plug in electrical and electronic equipment.
The intent of the EPO is to turnoff DCC, wireless , etc. equipment in case of an impending disaster or smell of burning in the room.
I assume that the only issue I have is momentum as the locomotive slows down.
Are there any other issues that I should consider?

Turnouts and DCC....did I mess up?
As I push forward getting the first modules on my newest layout wired up and ready to run trains I am wondering if I made a mistake I should address now. In reading the recent thread concerning code 100 Atlas turnouts It seem some of the chat was about having the frogs powered. I am using Atlas code 100 turnouts mainly because I have a stack of them, some new some used, that I was gifted following a modeling friends passing a few years ago. I also ended up with a stack of code 100 flex track, which is why I am running with the code 100.
