JMRI - decoder programming "best practice" question
I am about to start programming a Tsunami 2 1100 sound decoder and I have a question about what is "best practice" when using JMRI on a brand new decoder.
Can I assume that JMRI has the "correct" defaults pre-loaded, or should I load all sheets from the new decoder before I start changing CV values?
Thanks in anticipation ......

Scale Trains Operator Locomotive - Keep Alive recommendation
Hi,
I have a Scale Trains Operator edition locomotive and I would like to install a "keep alive" to improve performance. Has anyone done this already and if so, what "keep alive" would you recommend since it has an ESU Essentials Decoder.
My Athearn diesels and my other Scale Trains Rivet Counter locomotive move over the same offending sections of track effortlessly at very slow speeds, wheres the Operator model tends to stop and start with any excuse.
Many thanks.

Questions about turnout control
I'm currently installing the electrics of the layout, and I get a little confused though ...
I had thought you easily could find info on the web about how to solve certain problems?
My plan was to include the following features;
1) The turnouts have live frogs, so the turnout motor must be able to polarize correctly when switched. My Peco Pl-10 and Rapido Railcrew has switches for that function. Solved!
Digitrax LNWI Fears
I would like any and all feed back regarding the use of the LNWI access point on Digitrax DCC Systems. I have many layout owners in my operations group that are leary of the use of any smart phone use on their layouts. They think the smart phone operators can corrupt or change settings in their Digitrax DCC system.

Multimeter
Multimeter Newbie here.I bought a inexpensive harbor freight multi meter.I have read the instructions for reading resistance.when the probes are testing the rails ,the read out keeps going.is it suppose to stop on the correct measurement?

Status of upcoming TCS DCC system
Is there any updated info on the development or planned availability of TCS' new DCC system? Did anyone happen to attend the TCS clinic at the Amherst show last weekend and get some hands-on experience?

Econami question
Hi All, I installed an Econami 2 amp PNP in one of my S scale engines tonight and when testing it I noticed that a small flashing light pulses inside the shell in the area of the board for about 30 seconds after the power is shut down. I'm wondering if that has something to do with the current keeper bleeding off it's stored power? Engine and sound seem to work fine. Any Econami users noticed anything similar( it might be hard to see it with the engine all buttoned up, I had the removable dynamic brake panel off for testing) BTW.
DCC Controlled Relay / electrical Switch
Hi Folks:
Im looking for a DCC Controllable device that will turn on and off an electrical source like a switch. It will be used for controlling servo testers that will control the servos throwing turnouts.
Thanks

Snowy crossing picture
This image was being used to link to an article about the weather on foxnews.com.
Not sure how long it will stay up, but for now it looks like I can directly link to it in a post.
I thought it was an interesting pic, with the 2x2 crossing and the track the guy is standing in disappearing to the right.
There was no info on where the pic was taken.

Polishing a ... Atlas Code 100 bumper
So, I am trying to finish up a couple of projects for my buddy. He uses Code 100 track on his layout. Of course, he wants to use those terrible looking Atlas track bumpers from like 1985 or earlier. So, I said, "hey give me those and I'll see if I can make them look a little better.
Of course, he wants the red light on them.
I dunno, I think it polishes up pretty good. I may even spend a little more time doing some for myself. They would look good at a stub track at a commuter station or maybe a very important industry ?
