Rotary switches for electric bulbs

Hey, guys. question for anyone. I want to use a small rotary switch to power the light bulbs in my buildings so that I can vary the strength (intensity)  of the light bulb from very dim to full power. I am NOT inclined electrically, so need plain (very plain) english. Can any one recommend a source of these type of rotary switches and what capacity or voltage or wattage?  BTW, I am modelling HO in the USA.

Thanks,  Ron

Magnetically Operated E-Z Mate for n scale

Why can't a circuit be made in DC like DCC for polarity switching like the hot frog juicier

I have tried to ask this question other places but keep getting arcane replys. I was told the proublem was isolating the points at first an I have solved this. I know the DCC one won't work as it will not flip until 1.7 amps, why can't one be made to flip at less???????????

N-Scale Gyralite

Hi All

I have an N-Scale Kato F3 with a Digitrax DN163K0b and Richmond Controls LEDs. My question is how do I set up a lower headlight 'Gyralight?' The decoder mentions that it's FX3. I looked up the programming how-to's on the Digitrax site, but I'm still confused. I know there'll be soldering to the pads on the decoder, but how do I program a function (I'm using NCE by the way) to turn on the Gyralight?

Thanks!

Wiring dual color LED to indicate switch direction

Good day fellow model railroaders,

I am using bullfrog switch machine and the frog has been wired to the switch.  Basically, what I'd like to know is if it would be very difficult to wire a dual color (green, red) LED to show the direction of a switch? Is the included switch enough or should I get a different one?

Thanks in advance,
Christian

Tam Valley Depot Quad-LN

I am upgrading my Tam Valley Depot Quad-PICs to Quad-LNs for their added LocoNet functionality.  The Quads are for driving servos on DCC layouts for turnouts and other animations.  The LN is the latest version and if you are using a LocoNet system, have quite a few advantages.  I will not go into the details, but you can read the manual for the LN at the LN link above.  There is also a great decoder definition file for Deco

rail size

what size rail would a modern short line that also hauls 16-20 carloads of gravel/sand a day plus other freight with GP38's and the like use?

NCE EB-1 short protection question...

OK...

NCE 5 amp system

5 power districts

5 EB-1's to protect each district.

Derailment happens... the entire system shuts down. Not supposed to happen.

I have the trip set for 5 amps. I guess I should set them lower and use the "coin" method to see if the EB-1 is doing its job.

Repeat until it works. Correct?

I know I should have done it in the first place. Dumb!

Anything else you think I should consider let me know please.
