Problems with a Genesis F-3

I have a Genesis F-3. I pulled the MRC sound out of it, and replaced it with a TSU-GN 750. Well the engine before would run, lose sound, and start up again. I thought it was the decoder, but it is still doing it. I looked at the wheels and they do not look dirty, but tomorrow i will clean them. If it still does it, I will be at a loss. Has anyone ever experienced something like this?

If it still does it, I guess I will have to send it off to be repaired. Sigh... frustrating.

DC turnout signal question.

I'm working with DC. I have a Walther's turnout that is moved via a Caboose Industries ground throw. I would like to have a couple of LEDs on the panel to indicate the direction the switch it thrown.  The leads from the ground throw do not give a reliable connection to use. I considered getting the signal via the track, but it would only work if the track were energized. Is there a way in DC to check continuity between the rails of the switch and have that come back to the panel?

Digitrax simplex/duplex

What is the difference between the Digitrax simplex signal and the Digitrax duplex signal and what are the advantageous and disadvantageous between the two? I have the simplex system, would there be any advantage to switch to the duplex?

NJ International Phol Low Design Switch Stand

I'm looking at these for possible use on my layout (modern era).  I've searched but don't see any instructions or sample installations out on the web.  Does anyone have these installed on their layout?  Could they share how the operate?  Vendor description states that the handle is fixed but that the target rotates.

Thanks.

cylindrical track gauges

Has anyone come across cylindrical track gauges?

I saw these some years ago, but have lost the links to them if they are still being made.

Thanks,

Atlas CustomLine switch machines?

Is it OK to use the Bachmann power supply without the throttle box to supply the current for Atlas CustomLIne switch motor actuation?

Installing a DCC and Sound into a Bachmann Vanderbuitl Tender...

I wasn't real sure where to put this, so here it goes...

i don't know if this is standard, but both ends of the tender appear to be glued on. Wow! it was very difficult to get it/them off. Iwas finally able to, but wow was it frustrating. Is this standard? I did not run into this problem with the same tender on my Spectrum 4-8-2.

AC vs DC

Hi guys,

I have a question about track corrosion and type of track power.  I haven't started my layout yet and I'm trying to avoid one of those "Gee, I wish I had known that beforehand!" gotchas.

I have read that pure DC track power causes much less track corrosion than the AC power as supplied by DCC systems.

Two questions:

1--Is this true?

2--Is the difference significant?

Feeding the track power?

I have a little trolley layout that was a straight  8 feet long point to point layout, center fed for DC power. I added a loop and some sidings that add about 15 feet more track in a 4 by 5 foot additional table adjacent to the long 8 foot original layout.

Wire guage

Ok, wiring up some track. Feeder wires are 20 AWG and run about 10-12" where they connect with 14 AWG bus wire. When I wire up switches to turn on/off the block, I should continue the 14 AWG and heavy duty toggles switches? Now, when I run wires for the signaling (mostly LEDs indicating switch position) I think I can use thin 22 AWG (like telco) wire. This will be isolated from track power, just enough to drive the LEDs. Is this logical thinks or am I missing something?
