Preferred PS514 setting to supply DCS100 for HO
I have what may seem like a dumb question for all the EEs out there. I have just received my DCS100 and the recommended PS514 power supply. I did notice that the recommended power supply for this 5amp booster appears capable of only putting out 4amps. (grumble, grumble). Noticing that the power supply has an adjustable switch for the output voltage between 12 and 24 volts, and noticing that the rated amperage fell off as the voltage rises.
proto 2000 alco pa installing led for mars light
I have one of the Proto 2000, and I am installing new led's. I have the one working, but the mars light is a little different as it has three leeds/wires. Is there an led that will work with this, or do I go ahead and get the regular light that is recommended as the replacement?
Thanks for your time.

insulate between feeders?
OK here's a slightly longwinded question for you guys' opinions:
<preamble> On my first layout, I started with DC block wiring, then converted to DCC leaving all the existing insulated rail joiners between the original blocks.
<the QUESTION> Now I’m starting to wire my new layout without blocks and I’m wondering, is it ok to wire feeders every few feet with no insulated joiners?
Questions for Ring Engineering
Hi guys,
I am a newby who has yet to make any control investment.
Ring seems to have the most innovative control system currently on the market. This is an exciting product!
I’ve read their web site, viewed their videos, listened to Ring’s MRH podcast, and read most of the posts to this and other sites. I need to know more, though, and thought maybe there are others that have questions.
Here are some that I have:

Athearn F59PHI + digitrax SDH164D + Ditchlights = ???
Good day all of you,
I was installing the DLs so they can flash when the horn is pressed from some info off the web. Did everything correctly (doubled checked everything) and it doesn't work! The lights were working fine before I went ahead an tried to get the DL to flash, so I don't think it's an issue with the power output.
Questions about JMRI
Well while I am waiting for my PSX-Ar, I have been working of exploring my NCE PowerPro. Iam trying to/ start speed matching and constisting. I have heard and read about JMRI for speed matching. And from reading the site it seems they are sure it will speed match very quickly once you learn how to do it. Am I correct in understanding this program will interface with the decoder through the track to my Power Pro to my laptop? That would be pretty neat if it does in fact do that. What is the learning curve? The instructions didn't seem too bad.

Power a frog? and other questions..
I'm DCC using Lenz and I've found I don't need frogs powered. Recently did some new turnouts and pre-soldered a wire (just in case) on all 6 of them but there was no need. 1 was scratch-built, the rest from Andy at Proto:87, but used PV strips here and there for extra stability, ala Joe's method, but kept the hinges. Even my track-powered lighted passenger cars don't flicker over my frogs.
So why are their web-page after web-page about frog-empowerment?
reversing loop question
I have a reversing loop at both ends of my layout. The layout is rather large (18x23), and is mutlidecked. I have an NCE 5 amp Power Pro -R. In the reversing sections I have the digitrax AR-1. Now I can get some of the engines to go through (some with sound some with not). But when I get one engine to go through some of the others will hesitate. I have sat and adjusted and adjusted to no avail. I have been looking at Tonys Train exchange and some of the products over there. I am wondering if i should try the PSX-AR or the On Gaurd AR.
Problems with break squeal - Tsunami
I have a factory installed Tsunami (TSU-1000) in a Athearn Genesis MP15AC.
I have a question that has had me puzzled for some time now – and that’s the break squeal. I can’t seem to get it to work on my engine? Pressing various as-listed function keys gets me what I believe is the air break sound – but coming to a stop I hear nothing.
Pressing the Option button on the PowerCab (default for brake) it just stops completely.
Short circuit
I have a short somewhere and can't find it. I was running trains Saturday evening. All was well. Sunday afternoon I went to run again and I have a short and can't find it. Is there a way to zero in on a short?
